It was only Sam in the chorus room, it felt great being back in Glee; seeing all of the familiar faces. There was only one face he was hesitant about seeing, his face; the boy that he loved all through sophomore year. Sam pretended that they were just friends, but he knew they were so much more.
"Hey," a voice by the doorway said, "Nice country song, I always knew you were into that crappy music."
"It's not crappy, Puck. And hey," Sam looked to the side and saw him, Noah Puckerman. He couldn't help but smile, seeing his big Jewish teddy bear. He almost jumped to hug him, but then he remembered their bitter ending last summer.
"What you're with Mercedes now?" Puck said frantically," I thought…we…what about….us?"
"Awe come on, Puck! My parents are on to us being together. Do you think realistically that we were even going to stay together? You're graduating new year," Sam said coldly.
"Why are you even thinking that far into the future? Right now is the only thing that matters," Puck's voice was strong but his eyes told a different story.
"Yeah, and right now we're not together. I'm with Mercedes, you can go and finally be happy with Lauren, Quinn, or Rachel," Sam knew he was leaving soon, Mercedes is just an excuse to separate themselves so the move wouldn't completely crush them.
"They don't matter," Puck said briefly.
"Then who does?" Sam responded without thinking.
"You do," Puck's eye were intensely staring into Sam's
Their faces moved closer together until Sam just whispered miserably, "I can't." Sam turned and walked down the empty hallway.
Puck saw the smile drain from Sam's face, "What are you doing here Sam?" he snapped out of his horrible flashback.
"Finn and Rachel found me at my job. They told me New Direction's really needed me. I doubt that though," Sam smiled and looked down.
"Many people need you, Sam." They made eye contact, it made Sam feel very uncomfortable. "I heard from Finn where you were working. Kind of a dumb idea."
"Yeah well, you don't have a say in what I do anymore. You don't understand my situation, but I wouldn't expect you to."
"Why are you so defensive? I'm not judging you," He said sincerely.
"I feel like you are!" Sam yelled, "You're not the only one hearing things! You and Shelby, it's disgusting, you're disgusting."
"Talk about a judge," Puck just looked broken, like before in Sam's flashback. He couldn't deal with it, he pick up his bag and left as quickly as possible.
