Salik, Manik, Iqaluk, Yakone, Kallik, Shila, Ujurak, Toklo, Lusa, Sakari, Tonraq, and Taqqiq belong to Erin Hunter. The bears "Arona" and "Aronis" belong to me.
BTW, I imagine that Salik, Manik, and Iqaluk are brothers, even though they may not be in the series. But in this fanfiction story, they are.
PS: In this story, Iqaluk speaks with a British accent.
Yakone's POV
My stomach rumbled. "I'm hungry."
"Ok, then, Yakone," Kallik said. "Let's catch fish."
I waded in, and I caught a trout. "Do you want some, Kallik?"
"No thanks, I got a fish, too."
I gulped my trout down whole. Then, a little bit later, my stomach rumbled again. It sounded angry this time. "Maybe my stomach doesn't like fish," I said to myself.
"And what shall I do to 'be a good chap'?" A polar bear named Iqaluk said.
"You can shut up, Iqaluk," A she-bear named Shila snarled at him. "Or maybe you've forgotten the lesson you've been taught."
"Don't mind me. I haven't the slightest amount of memory loss." There was a slight degree of fear in his voice.
The next day, I caught something other than a fish. I ate it, and yet my stomach was still angry.
I went to sleep that night, and Ujurak came to me in a dream.
Ujurak, do you know what is wrong with me?
Yes, I do, Yakone. Your stomach has a secret craving.
What is it craving?
You've never eaten it before. I don't even know what food your stomach is after.
Ujurak, what do you think I should do?
Go on a journey and figure out what your stomach wants. You might even steal food. Eat a cub if you have to. But please find it, Yakone. Toklo, Kallik and Lusa don't want to lose you.
Eat a cub?! Ujurak, you know I wouldn't do that.
Go on a journey…
I woke up that morning. "Kallik, are you awake?"
"Yes, I'm awake, Yakone."
"Ujurak came to me in a dream last night. He said that my stomach had a secret craving. He also said to me, "Go on a journey and figure out what your stomach wants. You might even steal food. Eat a cub if you have to. But please find it, Yakone. Toklo, Kallik and Lusa don't want to lose you."
"Why would Ujurak suggest that? 'Eat a cub'. You wouldn't do such a thing, would you, Yakone?"
"My parents Arona and Aronis wouldn't like it if I did those things Ujurak suggested. But I have to. We could be looking at a life or death situation here!"
"NO!" Kallik stumbled backward. "You can't die!"
"Then I shall go on a journey. I will find the food my stomach wants. And I will-"
"Yakone, promise me you won't fall in love with another bear. I've always wanted to have cubs with you."
"I may find some bears I like," I admitted. "But none of them will be better than you. I love you."
"Aw, that's so sweet, Yakone."
Shila was eating a fish, and she looked at Taqqiq. "Now, don't you make Kallik your mate, Taqqiq. Or else." She bared her teeth at him.
"I would never do that, Shila. Unless you mated with someone else."
Shila lunged at him, and almost pounced, when Salik stepped in front of her. "Give a guy some room, will you, Shila? I thought Sakari raised you better than that."
"She really did, Shila." Shila's brother Tonraq said.
"Ok, then. Taqqiq, I'm sorry."
"You finally attended to lettin' off on the aggression, Shila. There's a good chap. Cheerio!" Iqaluk said.
Sorry about the extra parts with Shila. I couldn't help but put in extra things in this story.
