She was standing there, in the middle of the night, when the moon was high, and the city below her sleeping. She was watching the few odd cars slowly go somewhere in the city and eventually disappear. Her shear sweater ripped in the lazy wind of the night and she pulled the open sweater towards her, shivering a bit. The bottom of her knee-length dress ruffled and fell again and she placed her legs closer together. Her hair, tied in a messy bun, moved like grass on a pasture. Her red hair turned black in nightlight. Her pale skin shone in the moonlight, making her glow a slight bit.
As she was looking down at the city below, a soft step on dust came to her ears. She whirled around and took a step back. Her face; fear stricken. Out of the shadows of the forest came a man, dressed in black. His tan skin hid shadows in his face and blended with his clothing. His black hair shines in the light and his clothing turns a mild gray. He reached out to her, and started running towards her, the dust being displaced by his footsteps.
As the man in black came closer, the woman shrieked and took two steps back, almost tripped off the edge. Her arms out stretched, as if to ward off the man, and balance her at the same time. He stopped and questioned of her. She became quiet and turned back toward the city. The moon was almost full and almost to the top of the other hill. A lighter shade of blue took to the sky.
The girl looked to the sky. A harsh wind blew by and she out-stretched her arms, her sweater opening…
The man started running, making a great noise as his black sneakers graded against the dusty floor…
She slowly tilted, toward the city at first, then to the ground, many feet below. She screamed in relief as she fell, smiling as she hit the floor…
He cried after her, and held his hand out to her in a futile attempt in changing her stubborn mind. He watched as her blood fell in several directions, and as one of his tears fell with her.
His child…
His only perfect, baby girl…
Gone, now with forever and a day…
Outliving her would be the worst crime….
