Loveless

Warnings: absolute rambling.

The three of them were untouchable.

One chose to love everyone, the bad and the good, without gaining an ounce of it in return. Allen avoided all personal relationships like the plague, even Lenalee, head over heels for him. His life was shortened with Parasitic Innocence, and he wasn't family material underneath it all, husband or father. It wasn't as though he could find someone in the Order, he being a Noah's host, and Allen couldn't pull a one from the outside either to just taint their lives in ordeals they had nothing to do with. That would have been cruel, so he lived his life alone.

The second denied love as an existing emotion. It had died with his previous life, with the girl that promised to wait for him but ended up six feet under. Wars tend to do that so it really wasn't anyone's fault, and Kanda can't bring himself to continue to hate Alma for trying to kill him, his best friend, when he was all the boy had left. Looking at another potential partner sickened him because he still felt the ache from his former life's love, it saying that's not her; can't have what's not her. Some days he wished Alma did finish him off, just to get rid of loneliness.

Lavi was the hardest one to see was actually loveless since he wasn't really Lavi. He laughed and smiled and would care and Lavi would love. Oh, how he loved all of those women in China he saw once, then Lenalee when he came into the Order. He loved her the most, but it was ignored. And when Lavi disappeared, Bookman's apprentice couldn't love, wasn't allowed to. He saw the world through emotionless eyes, heart unmoved, or removed completely. Attachments were always deemed unnecessary, so why have one when you weren't able to love, anyway?

Yes, the three of them were untouchable. No, they didn't want someone to take notice and try to place a warm hand on their cold hearts. With thousands of other people out there, what were their loveless lives worth against one who would gladly take anything? Yes, they lived alone: the one who swore to leave his heart out of all matters, the one who found it repulsive, and the one who found no join in taking what he's already given away.

The three of them were untouchable, and Kanda, Lavi, and Allen found that comforting.

Fact: Wow, what the hell is this crap? I'm half asleep, anyway. Unbeta'd and shiz. Night people.
