This is a Snape and Lily versus the Marauders story.
Severus flung himself down next to Lily. "What's up Sev?" Lily brushed the hair out of his eyes."Lily, I'm tired of this! I don't want to be a source of amusement to the marauders anymore..." Lily smiled sadly at her friend. She knew how much the marauders caused her friend irritation. " I'll try to stop them Sev,but you need to stand up for yourself, too!" Severus nodded. "Let's go to lunch, Lily." He stood and helped her up. "We could..." Lily whispered her plan to Sev who smirked slightly.
The Marauders had always tormented Severus. Sirius Black was, of course, the one who refused to back down in the face of Lily's formidable temper. Finally, though, Snape had enough. He spun on his heel to face Black. " Hey Black. Did your parents ever ask you to run away?" Sirius glared angrily. "If I had a face like yours I'd hex my parents!" Severus' eyebrow arched in suppressed humor. "Your incompetence is an inspiration to morons everywhere."
Sirius was every close to hexing Snape. He hated not being in control over anyone, let alone Snape. "People like you shouldn't be allowed to breed!" Severus laughed and turned to walk away. "Where do you think you are going Snivellus?" "I refuse to continue this battle of wits with such a woefully unarmed person like yourself." Sirius stormed off as James, Remus, and Peter ran screaming from the Great Hall. A loud, and Rather off-key version of 'this is the song that never ends' could be heard coming from within. Lily walked out at a more sedate pace. "I charmed every piece of paper, book, and painting to repeat a definition which I think is only fitting." She whispered as she handed him a slip of parchment. ' Aggravation- a source of continuing, increasing irritation, or trouble.' Lily's bell-like laughter echoed through the corridor. Severus thought it was the most beautiful music that he had ever heard.
