PROLOGUE

The sound of something breaking made her woke up jumping. She saw her mother getting into the room shouting scared. She only got three words, but they were enough to understand what had happen. She stood up and walked to the kitchen. She heard her brother crying, but it was too dark to see, so walking towards the sound, she found her brother and hugged him. She could feel the blood running through his arm.

"Mom?" Asked her brother.

"It's me, Pete, Grace"

"Why can't I see?" Grace looked confused.

"What are you talking about?" Her voice had started to brake.

"It's the curse" said her mother from the door of the kitchen. "The gods, wanted to punish me, this is what they want. They are leaving my only son blind"

"Gods?"

"Your father tried to protect me. He said no one would admit two kids from the same god. We had three. I lost the first one, but they are not happy..."

"Mom? Is it you? I can't see you..." Peter's voice sound scared.

"It's ok, Peter" said Grace "you'll see soon"

"Don't you dare lie to him!" Her mother shouted. "PLUTO TOLD ME SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN TO OUR YOUNGEST SON! DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO HIM LIKE THAT!"

"I'm not lying!" Grace shouted "You lost your first son mother! You would not loose another!" Suddenly her mother's expression changed. She had understood what Grace was about to do.

"You sure?" Her voice was breaking,

"He haven't see anything of the world, I have..." Tears had started to fall from her eyes. Her mother hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"I love you" she said "never forget that"

"I won't" Grace looked at her brother and kissed his cheek. "You'll see soon" she said "I promise" she closed her eyes and talked to the gods.

"Whoever you are" she said "I want you to change the curse. I beg you. Please, don't- don't leave my brother like this , I'll- I'll take the curse." She stayed in silence without opening her eyes. She heard her brother shouting of joy. He could see again. Her mother laughed taking Peter from her arms.

"You are really brave, Grace, I admire you. One day you'll see again, I promise, you just have to be patient. I give an advice, choose well who you became friend of, one of your friends, will help you with your blindness. I love you, Grace, remember that. You can open your eyes know, my daughter"

And she did, but everything was black, and it stayed black...
