This story is a kinda sad, you've been warned.
A Bed Time Story
The small boy huddled under his bed. A crash of thunder sent a spasm of whimpers through him. He didn't want to cry, it would be shameful, him being almost 5 years old. Heavy footsteps came closer and light trickled across the floor.
Matt, son where are you?
The man knelt down to look under the bed. His sadden blue eyes locked on his son. He stared at eyes so identical his, only they were filled with terror.
Are you afraid of the thunderstorm son?
No, well maybe a little.
The child continued to cower under the bed.
Maybe if I told you a story it would help take your mind of the storm son.
The father gathered the boy into his arms. Running his fingers through the chestnut curls the man began.
Do you remember anything about your mom Matt?
The boy shook his head. He then cuddled closer to his dad.
Your mother was a very caring person. Some say everyone has a guardian angel watching over them. I always used to laugh and tell your mother I had no need for something like that. She always said that we were each others guardian angels. And when she was taken to the hospital, we knew she would never come out again. Your mother told me that she would continue to be a guardian angel for me, and for our son, you, even after the left us physically.
The boy fastened his intense blue eyes on his fathers. Your mother loved us very much son. Feelings are very powerful forces Matt. Always remember to be conscious of them. They can be very dangerous. I'll explain it more when you are a little older. But feelings are also what makes life worth living. All feelings if strong enough can create a certain force, that can protect people. Do you understand anything I've told you Matt?
I think so daddy. I'm not afraid anymore Daddy. I have my own angel looking out for me, mommy!
yes, Matt. Your mother is an angel, our guardian angel. The father tucks his son back into his bed.
good night my son.
Takeru closes the door to Matt's room and turns to the mantel where his and Hikari's wedding portrait hangs.
Good night my angel. I know that you will always be with us, and now our son knows it too.
THE END
