Based on JediEmpress' universe, which over time has overcome the actual Kingdom Hearts universe for me. A fanfic of a Fanfic, sad I know. This can be see as a prequel to chapter 482. Jaw of Jediempress' Words are Power (which is awesome and will soon be hitting it's five hundredth chapter, all bow down to her for her tenacity.) It would be a good Idea to know that story for this one to make sense.

It was the kind of cliché moment that should only exist in pictures and commercials. Leon exited the back of the house to find Sora sitting on the steps watching Riku and Cloud play with the puppies. With the puppies bounding in leaves of red and gold, huge grins, even a white picket fence surrounding the yard, it had all the qualification of a Kodak moment.

Leon walked forward quietly and sat down on the other side of the steps, though his back would have preferred that he sit in one of the chairs. Twenty-five seemed a bit young to be having so many aching joints.

For awhile they just watched the family play.

"That guy was giving Cloud shit again today."

Leon frowned. While the people hadn't always been overly happy about it, they had always tolerated people's personal choices and relatively kept their opinions to themselves. It was almost a necessity with so many different cultures crashing into each other, that was the nature of a refugee camp. And even though it had actual houses and a library and seemed to be an actual town, a refugee camp was essentially what radiant Garden was; a collection of people who had lost everything and where trying to make a new life here. Most were so grateful to have a place to go at all that Radiant Garden had peaceful and accepting air.

And know this man was threatening it with his bigoted rants and his Holier than thou attitude, and there was nothing Leon could do. Well, there was, unofficially he was in charge of the entire world and the reconstruction committee was comprised of his closest and dearest friends. Yet the man hadn't done anything but run his mouth so far and the last thing Leon wanted was Radiant Garden getting a reputation as a place where you had to have the same views or get out.

Sora's shoulder's hunched as he drew his arms around his knees and rested his head there and Leon could see the raincloud forming over his head. It wasn't often that Sora was serious.

"I just don't understand. How could anyone be blind enough to see that they were made for each other?" Leon could see that Sora's eyes were becoming extra shiny from unshed tears. He looked away to see Zack feint at Cloud before tearing off with the Frisbee.

When Sora continued, his voice was thicker "Because when I see them together I think I see a little of what they would be if all this shit hadn't happened and they were…" he let his hand loll around a bit. "Happy."

Silence reigned for several seconds as they watched the couple chase the puppies around the lawn. Riku did a spectacular flying dive, missing on purpose, and was immediately swarmed by Zack and Seph as he sprawled out on the ground. Cloud laughed.

Leon saw Sora smile out of the corner of his eye. Scooting over to the other side of the steps he threw his arm around his friend and let Sora snuggle up in a rare show of affection. Riku finally bounded up and took off again, this time with the puppies chasing him, smashing himself into his husband and toppling him into the pile of leaves they had so laboriously collected just this afternoon, puppies bounding in after.

"Who know why people are bastards. Riku and Cloud have their shit together better than most heterosexual couples. They may be young, but it's defiantly just love. And if the puppies and Tifa's kids are any indication, they'll be more qualified parents than most 'normal' couples too."

Sora was watching the usually quite man calculatingly. Finally he smiled slightly,

"Yeah."
