I love Jericho. I prefer season 1 over season 2, but let's not get into that right now. This will be a series of vignettes that will possibly jump back and forth over time. The first one I wrote, but for the rest I would like you to give me ideas of what you want to see. It can be a scenario or it can be just a one word prompt.
The First Time
When she sleeps on the small sofa, only her head and blond hair peeking out from under the crochet blanket her Grandmother knitted, Jake thinks she looks like a little girl again. He is taken back to when they were in Kindergarten. Jake remembers clear as day the first time he ever saw Emily Sullivan.
She was wearing a white long sleeved t-shirt and red dungarees. Her blond hair - which was almost white back then - had been pulled into pigtails either side of her head by her mother, and wrapped in red ribbon to match her dungarees.
There had been a flu outbreak at school and most of the teachers were off sick. Those that remained at school had bought all the children together in one tiny classroom for a day of colouring, sticking and gluing. That, Jake always remembered, had been his best day at school.
The kids had been mixed into smaller groups with different activities. Jake and Eric had been placed together - as the teachers always did. Their task was drawing a picture of their families then showing it to the group. Even at 7 years old, Jake had drew his parents and Eric in a line on the garden path, whilst he had been trailing behind with their dog, Lollipop. He bet a psychologist would have a field day with that picture nowadays.
When Emily showed her picture to the small group, she drew herself, her mother and a tiny blue squiggle that was her little baby brother. Jake asked where her Dad was.
Emily said she didn't live with him anymore.
Jake thought that was weird, and told her so.
Emily stuck her tongue out at him.
