The gentle glow of the candlelight grew nearer and nearer arather rhythmic footsteps became audible. The faces on paintings lit up for abrief, glittering moment and then would quickly fade away. Much like the fate of humanity, he thought with a smirk, so full of life for such a brief period of time, and then gone, leaving nothing behind.

"How arrogant." His master's room soon came into view. An odd sound was emanaging into the hallway. It was almost as if a smala minimal was whimpering. This sound was all too familiar, yet it still cauemotion light stir of emotion every time.

Slowly pushing open the wooden door, he was greeted by an all too familiar sight. There was his master, half covered by the sheet, his white nightgown draping over that too frail frame. This truly was one of the only times that his master looked his age. His delicate face was twisted in agony as he once agaIn was forced to relive the tormnets of his past. He slowly slid off a glove and ran it through that navy hair. Another twinge of emotions shocked his system.

How annoying that was, and yet humans felt it all the time. Emotions only distract and that was why, as far as humans had come, they were only regressing. However, when the angiuished look was replaced with one of content, he couldn't help but feeling a little accomplished.

Afterassuring his master's safety, it was then time to start his nightly regimen.
