She watches him beat his fists into the wall.
"Sir? Colonel don't do that because I'm not going to patch you up afterwards okay?"
"Piss off doc." you don't care about me, you never cared about me, you just want her to be happy. He mutters and looks back at Sam's body watching the machine breathe for her. Janet looks back at her too.
"I'll do anything within my power to make sure she makes it through Jack." she has to make it through, I need her. Janet thinks, Jack looks at her.
"What if your best isn't good enough? What the fuck am I going to do then doc? I can't sit by and watch her die doc. I need her on my team."
"You're not the only one that needs her." She mutters, she moves he gaze to the floor.
"You love her!" he accuses, he's seen the looks they give each other when they think the other isn't looking, he just pretends he doesn't.
"Of course I love her, she's my best friend." She answers knowing full well that he's talking about a different kind of love, a love that sometimes she wishes she didn't have.
"No, not that kind, the other kind, the kind like I love her." He mutters.
She stares at the floor. She can't deny it. He looks at her harder, moving towards her.
"Doc, you do don't you?"
"It's beside the point colonel." She looks up at him
"No it's not it's exactly my point…"
There's a noise from Sam's room, Janet rushes in quickly followed by Jack.
"Sam." Janet mutters taking the tube from her mouth.
"Jack?" She mutters.
"I'm here…" He says placing a kiss on her forehead.
Janet turns away, covering her mouth with her hand, It kills her to know that she'll never be the one Sam runs to, it kills her to know she'll never be able to kiss her neck or drag her nails down her skin.
"Jan." Sam mutters, Janet turns around moving so that she is on the side Jack isn't.
"You're my girl Jan, you'll always be my girl no matter what happens." Sam grabs Janet's collar pulling her down towards her she kisses her lightly before Janet can react she pulls away not letting go of the collar.
"No matter what." She mutters again.
Janet kisses Sam, A short, delicate kiss. they'll only ever have kisses, nothing more, nothing less.
"I miss you baby." Sam's voice whispers in the ere darkness.
Janet sit up it her bed.
"Sam?" Janet is answer with silence. Ever since Sam was shot down Janet keeps having the Sam dream, but the voice at end had never happened before.
"I'm going fucking crazy." Janet mutters turning around She soon falls asleep to dream once more. A wanting, unfulfilled dream, of something she wished she could still have.
