I Love You, Always
A midnight chill like that of ice water poured through the house. Silence rang through the room as Albus held his wife, wrapped tightly in her favorite tartan blanket, in his arms. A soft, familiar knock sounded at the bedroom door.
"Come in," Minerva called, sitting up in bed.
As the door creaked open, a small child with piercing green eyes entered the room, a messy bundle of thick auburn hair cascading about her shoulders. A single tear escaped from her emerald eyes and sparkled as it rolled down her creamy porcelain cheek.
"I had a bad dream," she said with a sweet, tired voice as she rubbed her teary eyes.
Minerva gave her daughter a loving smile and outstretched her arms. The young girl climbed onto the bed and snuggled herself down into the blankets between her mother and father. Albus smoothed the child's hair as Minerva consolingly wiped the tears from her eyes and cheeks. Before laying her head on the pillow beside her, Minerva placed a tender kiss upon the girl's lovely forehead.
"I love you, Mommy. I love you, Daddy," she said.
"I love you too."
Albus's heart swelled with pride as he watched his daughter drift off to sleep in his wife's arms. He smiled happily at Minerva before kissing her on the lips and his daughter on the forehead.
"Goodnight, my dears. I love you, always."
