"I could really use a hug right now."
She clicked the send button and sighed dramatically at her cell phone.
The opaque walls around her were making her nauseous and the loud sound of what she assumed was lecturing didn't help one ounce. In fact, she always hated math class – how'd she make it to Trigonometry, she'll never understand – and the only thing keeping her going was her current conversation with Sora. Sure, he wasn't in her class; he was in drama at this moment, but they still texted each other.
Let's get things straight, Kairi was going through – well, shit. You could tell it from the grim frown placed firmly on her face, not even taking the initiative to hide it like the pretender she'd learned to become. Anyways, to start things off, this morning, as she was getting ready to get on the bus that would take her to this legal prison, she trips – yes, trips! It really didn't help that it had rained the night before and there just so happened to be a puddle right beneath her.
With a quick glance down at her blackberry, Kairi gave an exasperated sigh. Sora would've replied by now, was he ignoring her?
"Something wrong, Kairi?" Selphie whispered quietly from the next desk over.
Glaring down the preppy brunette, the redheaded girl snarled. They were best friends, yes, but this girl just so happened to be another reason why her day was turning out to be so, absolutely horrible. Okay, so earlier that day, when they were eating lunch and everything was fine and dandy, Tidus comes over and the worst thing happened – he pointed at her asked if she peed herself.
To think they were supposed to be her friends, the teenager huffed at the thought.
Still no text from Sora.
"Yes, Selphie. Just peachy," Kairi replied through gritted teeth, turning her attention to the front even though she could care less about the lesson. She just wanted to get out of there, see her friends, Sora specifically, and enjoy the weekend in front of her with said person. At least Sora and Riku would always be on her side, she couldn't even begin to imagine what life would be like if they were gone forever.
The last thing to happen that made the day just perfect was when someone tripped and "accidentally" pulled her skirt down to reveal her panties. Maybe they didn't like the wet spot on her outfit, she thought humorlessly.
After one last glance at her blackberry, Kairi came to the conclusion that Sora wasn't going to reply, and frowned even deeper. Okay, all she said was she needed was a hug; did that really appall him that much? If anything, she thought he loved hugs.
Next thing she knew, a pile of chestnut colored hair was blocking her vision and a pair of arms were securely wrapped around her frame – she didn't even hear the door open. Then, after the person pulled away from the embrace, the redhead took in the sight of a big, goofy grin, a mess of spiky hair, and ocean blue eyes – and of all things, the boy she loved was in his toga. Did he really come down three flights of stairs in a toga of all things, just to give her a hug?
"Detention for disrupting of the classroom!" The teacher called from the front of the class, but was barely heard over the buzzing in Kairi's ears.
"Yeah, yeah," Sora said, his smile still in place, "cheer up, okay? 'Cause I love you long time."
It wasn't long until he was nudged out of the room by the teacher who all too obviously never fell in love and Kairi sat in a dazed state of mind. He came all that way, just for her.
Her phone buzzing, Kairi swiftly flipped it open and gave a lopsided grin at the words on the screen.
"I love you so much. Don't ever forget it or I'll have to hug you again."
She knew.
