Dentist
"Ok, let's take a look at your teeth cutie pie." Johnna's dentist told the sweet little girl.
Jackie had taken Johnna in for a dental checkup.
Johnna looked horrified and kept her mouth tightly closed.
"It's alright sweetheart, it won't hurt." Jackie assured her as she sat next to her.
Johnna however kept her mouth closed.
"Johnna would you like to see our friend Mr. Sock Puppet?" Her dentist asked with a smile.
Johnna shook her head enthusiastically but she still didn't open her mouth.
One of the dental assistance reached in a nearby drawer and pulled out a blue sock puppet.
"Hello Johnna, how are you?" the dental assistant asked in a deep voice pretending she was the puppet.
Johnna giggled.
"Can we have a look inside your mouth?" The sock puppet asked.
"No." Johnna replied.
Jackie stifled a laugh.
"If you let us see inside your mouth you will get to pick a prize from our special prize bucket." The sock puppet told her.
"Prize?" Johnna asked excitedly.
"Yes, we have lots of cool prizes." Mr. Sock Puppet informed her.
"Ok." Johnna finally agreed as she opened her mouth.
Johnna reached out for Jackie's hand.
"It's ok." Jackie told her little girl with a smile as she grabbed her hand.
Pretty soon the dentist was finished.
"You're all done, you did a great job, and you are cavity free." She told her with a smile.
"Prize now?" Johnna asked happily.
The dentist laughed
"Yes, you sure can have a prize, but first we have to take your picture and put it on our cavity free wall of fame." Her dentist told her.
The dentist led Johnna out into the hallway and Johnna smiled proudly for her photo op and then the dentist went and got the big prize bucket and brought it to the excited little girl.
Johnna's eyes got wide when she saw the big bucket of prizes before her.
"I think we might be here awhile." Jackie told the dentist with a laugh as she saw the look on Johnna's face.
"You might be, sometimes it takes kids longer to pick a prize then it does for the actual appointment." The dentist replied with a smile as she disappeared down the hallway so she could see her next patient.
After what seemed like an eternity Johnna finally chose a cute plastic bracelet out of the bucket.
"That is really pretty sweetheart." Jackie told the child with a smile.
"Yeah." Johnna agreed as she put it on.
Jackie smiled at her and grabbed her hand so they could leave.
As Jackie and Johnna drove home Jackie was relieved, the dentist appointment had gone really well and Johnna had gotten a prize which made her extremely happy.
Overall the experience was a huge success!
