Deliver Us From Evil

Note: Fans of my work (formerly Juliefan1) this is my darkest yet. That Sister Peg who randomly showed up on SVU occasionally is not this character.

"The Lord is my light and salvation, of whom shall I be afraid?" sang Sister Peggy gesturing to the now empty sanctuary, as she rehearsed the responsorial psalm for Sunday.

"Oh crud, RCIA class is in 20 minutes!" said her accompanist, Sister Rita, who taught the class to those interested in converting to Catholicism.

"Want me to run over to the convent and grab some left over pizza?" asked Sr. Peggy.

"Sure, you're a blessing! Just bring it to the classroom."

Sr. Peggy practically ran out the door across the parking lot to the convent, when someone tripped her.

"Going to write to a politician to help end my business, get rid of my merchandise?" said a rough male voice she never heard before. She couldn't think about what the stranger meant, until he pulled out an Ipad and begin to play a clip.

"Like many Sisters around the world, we are committed to letting the public know about the injustice of human trafficking." It was Sr. Peggy on last night's local news. Her ankle was killing her, so she couldn't get up. Before she could scream, duct tape was on her mouth and she was dragged away.

A few minutes later Sr. Rita was starving, or so it felt like and was wondering what was taking Sr. Peggy so long.

"Hi, Father Duggan" she said to the priest in the hallway.

"Hello Sr. Rita. I have some leftovers from the pancake breakfast I was going to have before going to my meeting. Would you like me to get you and Sr. Peggy some for later?"

"That would be nice, but Sr. Peggy should be coming any minute. She should be here now. I was just going to ask St. Christopher to pray for her. Could you please run over to the convent to check on her?"

"Sure."

Once Fr. Duggan reached the convent door he was surprised by what he saw, a note. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and turned on the backlight. The note read, "I saw that noisy nun on TV last night. If she's so concerned about my business and thinks what I do with my merchandise is injust, she'll see it herself. Good luck finding us! Haha!"

"Heaven help us! I have to call Elliot!" He thanked God he had an SVU detective as a parishioner and friend.
