Gaillard and Kai were staring at each other, cards at hand and hovering over their hearts.
Behind them were both of their Legions, the pairs of Vanguard units tensing up, hackles rising, not a single muscle in their bodies relaxed, eyes gleaming with anticipation, waiting for their fighters to twist the middle collum they stayed in and be signaled to attack.
The holy azure flames and the crimson flames of purgatory were in both of the mighty dragons' mouths, waiting to be shot at the other.
Blue flames of Holiness.
Red flames of Purgatory.
They were complete opposites.
And so were the fighters, both of the men with a different will, a different approach, even the sparks igniting in both of their eyes completely disparate.
They were so different... Yet so similar.
Yes, it was true they both had different views of saving Aichi, and what was to be done. Gaillard sought that Aichi be heavily protected and even to be sealed away at this very instant, if not for the opponents standing in front of him. Holy and true, definitely the most loyal out of all of the Quatre Knights.
Kai was completely different. He wished to rush up to Aichi immediately. He sought to destroy anything that got in his way with his hellish scarlet flames. All his sins he committed just powered him, making him persevere and soar in the most dispicable way possible.
And yet, despite their distinctive personalities, no signs of distaste were shown on either of their solemn faces.
In fact, they were very respectful towards each other, no matter how opposing they were. Like magnets of the same side, constantly resisting and trying their best not to get too close, yet they weren't trying to push each other away either.
It was red and blue.
Heaven and hell.
Angel and Devil.
Yet they were going to fight with swords brandished not by hatred and antagonism, but their hearts.
