The Final Stretch
These days; these nights:
They are filled with endless sorrows and silence
Of the endless waiting
A clock clicking too slowly for time
I have nicknamed them – my boys- Insanity and Insecure
For the nights of dreamless sleep that plague them
And the hollows I cannot see, will not bear to see
These days; these nights:
We are the waiting, the ones who know not what comes
With the sounds of crickets chirping
I stand alone, a pillar of faith
Yet we stand as one against the greatest evil Time has known
And here, in a place maimed by darkness and failure
We wait, Time our enemy and our friend
There is no way to reassure the restless from the lines and boundaries
Guarded by what we wish to know
Leading to Loneliness
Do you remember that when you were a child?
The long hours you sat alone, Insanity and Insecure?
For we can be called adults; and like adults we will fight
Three seventeen-year-olds who can save the earth;
Who will save the earth,
Yet in spirit we remain children,
Curious, in spite of all, about the unknown
So in this palace of sadness and sacrifice
We wait
For we are the waiting
And on clock ticks back and forth, to and fro
These days; these nights:
These days; these nights.
A/N: Hermione's point of view, DH. Written prior to the release of Book 7 but happily still compliant with canon anyway. :D Insanity, in case anyone was wondering, is Harry; Insecure is Ron.
