Hot Chocolate:
Percy sat curled up on the couch of the Gryffindor common room in front of the fire. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon. Students were either in the library, common room, or outside playing in the newly fallen snow. It was mid-December and he wanted to study for end of the term finals. He turned the worn pages of his copy of Standard Book of Spells: Grade 5, eyes skimming over the pages. Reaching up, he adjusted his glasses and shifted his position on the couch.
While Percy was so absorbed in his book, he didn't notice another fifth year joining him. Oliver Wood had just came in after having a snowball fight in the court yard with his fellow teammates of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team.
"Hey Percy," he greeted the redhead as he flopped down on the chair next to the couch. The redhead only nodded in response causing Oliver to frown at him. It was a nice winter day and the snow was so freshly fallen, he didn't understand why anyone would want to be cooped up all day with a book. "You've been reading all day then?"
Percy only nodded again, causing Oliver to frown even more. "You don't want to go outside? See the snow? Play in it a bit?"
The redhead glanced over the top of his glasses at his dormmate and friend. "No, I want to study. Now I'll ask you kindly to please be quiet and let me study in peace."
The Quidditch player only stared at Percy for a long moment but remaind silent allowing Percy to get back to reading his book. Oliver's eyes darted about the room, looking at everything and everyone sitting there quietly, studying or talking in low tones. The normally loud fifth year couldn't stand it. He didn't know how everyone could sit there in silence for too long. Sighing, he brought his gaze back around to Percy. "Peeeeeeeeercy," he whined like a small child wanting attention from his mother.
The Weasley snapped his book shut and glared at him. "You have my undivided attention, what is it, Oliver?"
Oliver grinned at him for a moment. "Want to go down to the Great Hall and get a hot chocolate?"
There was a pause for a long moment. Percy wanted to say no, but he had a feeling that if he said no Oliver wasn't going to give up and think of other ways to pester him. Sighing, he set the book next to him on the couch. "If I do this, will you let me study when we come back?"
"Sure."
"Let's go then..." Percy said as he stood up, making his way over to the common room entrance.
Oliver's grin widened as he followed Percy out of the common room. Normally it would have taken him longer to get the redheads attention, but this time it didn't take as long as it did in the past. He was wearing him down it seemed and one day, when Percy least expected it, he would ask.
