May 20th Challenge Lyrics:
So lately been wondering who will be there to take my place
When I'm gone you'll need love to light the shadows on your face
If a great wave shall fall, and fall upon us all
Then between the sand and stone, could you make it on your own
If I could, then I would, I'll go wherever you will go
Way up high, or down low, I'll go wherever you will go
- Wherever You Will Go, The Calling
As G. Callen laid his head on a small square pillow and stretched out on one of the couches in the sitting area diagonal from the bullpen, he sighed in content. He was back after months of rehabilitation and recuperation from the bullet wounds that should have killed him. The team had saved the girl, caught the bad guys, and were all safe and sound. He contemplated on his life as he waited for sleep to claim him for only a couple of hours.
He has no identity, but he has a purpose. He has no home, but he has a family. He need not know his identity, because his purpose was to protect others' and his nation's identity. He needed no home, because his family is his home. In his experience, home was temporary, but family was permanent. His family consisted of people he would lay down his life for and he knew that they would do the same.
Hetty is more a mother hen to the team than an Operations Manager. Although, he would miss Macy, he was glad that Hetty had returned from her classified overseas operation. She had been gone a year. Hetty is the mastermind of the family.
Sam is the big brother he had wanted when he was small and shuffled from foster home to foster home. Although, Sam often got on his nerves, pushing at the walls that he had long ago built, he understood why Sam did. Sam was a family man and wanted to include him in his family, but Callen had lingering misgivings on being intrically woven into a large family, after all, the larger the family, the larger the risk on becoming hurt. Sam is the heart of the family.
Mike is the little brother that he had not realized that he needed. It both broke his heart and made him proud that Mike had moved on from the team, the family. Callen knew that he needed to make his own path, take what he learned, and carry on. Mike is the voice of the family.
Kensi is the proverbial girl next door, if that girl preferred monster truck rallies and shooting at the gun range. She was on the borderline of trying little sister and unrequited crush. He had not yet decided what she was to him, but he knew she was family. Kensi is the favourite of the family.
Eric is the strange little cousin with his quirky uniqueness that you humored. Although, he hardly ever understood him, he knew that Eric was the absolute best of what he did. Callen knew his family would fall apart without him. Eric is the eyes and ears of the family.
Dom is the newest addition to the family. His place in the family still not carved out. Dom is the close family friend whom is more family than friend.
As sleep claims him, Callen realizes that he is the legs of the family, because where he goes, family follows.
