All I can say is that this can't be happening...
The shaking started after the loud Bang! sounded. I was over at my grandparents' house on Christmas Eve, just for a little family get together and fun. We had just finished dinner and were starting desert when I had headed outside to the swing on the backyard porch. One of my cousins joined me and we sat in silence; staring up at dark sky, filled to the brim with stars and one full moon. "Too bad I didn't bring telescope," my cousin says with a smile, "I would love to have taken a look at the moon right now." He turns to see me nodding in a silent agreement.
I close my eyes for second and inhale and exhale slowly, watching my little puff of air swirl around me. My cousin smiles and breathes out his own. We both smile. "I love nights like this," I say, "Nice quiet nights." My cousin nods. We were just about to head back indoors for some dessert when a loud bang sounded. We both jumped and were thrown to ground as something like an earthquake shook the very ground we were standing on. My cousin and I exchanged surprised glances as we watched a meteorite streak threw the sky and land somewhere nearby.
Without further ado, I got up, grabbed my camera, and ran like hell; ignoring the yells of my family and friends. I had a feeling that my cousin had taken off after me, as well as some of my family members. But I had already gotten a good head start toward the crash.
I started to slow to jog and hopped over a bent fence near the crash. It was still hot and smokey as I walked cautiously towards the site. Suddenly, sound like metal grinding and winding to create something. I jumped a little but continued to press forward. With only the moon's light to show me the way, I walked until some type of medal shone in the light.
Blue lights, like eyes, shone up at me. "Uh, easy. Take it easy. No one's gonna hurt you," I whisper as my eyes went up to see four of my cousins, two aunts and uncles, and my parents nearby; approaching the being with extreme caution. "Alyx, get away from that thing," my mom hissed, not taking her eyes off it. Someone brought a flashlight and its light shone the medal, revealing glyphs of a language that I could not decipher, but yet they seemed familiar to me. A movement out of the corner of my eye showed to me that the being was slightly stirring, but staring straight up at me.
I eyed it warily as my dad said, "Alyx, listen to your mother. Get away from it." "Dad, relax..." I say, my voice trailing off as I continue to stare at the unknown being. Its gaze did not waver as I walked slowly over to it. Then it seemed that it took in a breath and said, "You must get out of here. You... the Human race... is in danger...," it murmured. Suddenly a bright light filled my gaze and blackness took me. The only emotion I felt was, not fear, but confusion.
Only confusion...
