In a small town in the country side of France was a high school full of odd and talented maturing teenagers, one of these was a pretty faced girl named Belle. Belle was the most modest of all the senior girls, she had always known to keep up her good girl reputation, since in a small town everyone knows everything, even when they don't. As she walked to the entrance of the high school, she ran a hand through her brown hair and smoothed her blue and white dress, that ran past her knees, she was reading The Last Waltz. Belle was always reading. Everyone definitely noticed, especially a fairly large boy named Gaston, who seemed to strongly believe women should be chained to the kitchen.
Gaston, a buff, arrogant boy, who looked more like a body builder, was on the football team and he could not stand to lose, therefore he cheated, at everything. He was a boy who never gave up, but as many times as he asked, Belle never said yes to the offers of dinner and painting the town. Gaston didn't come from a great family, but he was certainly making a name for himself by showing off. Also, he had a long flow of girls following him, hoping he'd make them his next girlfriend.
At this time Belle was making her way to her first class when Gaston decided that that was the best time to make yet another move on Belle.
"So how was your summer Belle?" Gaston asked, with a devilish grin playing on his lips.
"Very pleasant, I read so many classics, like Gone with the Wind, how about yours?" She said.
"Fine, why do you read so much?" Gaston asked.
"It takes me to another world, you know?" she said.
"You know, I could take you to another world." Gaston said suggestively and taking a few steps toward her.
"Gaston, I'm not really interested." Belle said countering his steps by taking a few away from him.
"I really doubt that," Gaston said closing the gap between them.
Belle was beyond nervous; this was the first time that she was really scared of what he would do. She cowered beneath his large frame, refusing to look him in the eyes. She had to find some way for her to get away before this got too serious. She looked around, a crowd had gathered, she did notice a line was forming to get in the school.
"Look at the time, we should head to class." She said.
"I say we skip, drive to a few of my favorite places, do a few things." he said and a swoon went through the senior girls who were there.
"I'd prefer to stay where I'm supposed to, Gaston." Belle said.
"Not to mention the fact that she would have to be stuck in a car with you as you drive to a strip club" a strong voice said behind Gaston, the crowd gasped then snickered.
"Excuse me?" Gaston roared, turning toward the one who interrupted.
"Maybe your brain is too small to comprehend that statement." the voice said, poor short Belle couldn't see over or around Gaston.
"What was that, city boy?" Gaston boomed.
"You know you heard me" the voice said.
"You need and attitude adjustment, don't you?" Gaston asked, popping his knuckles.
"No, personally, I know when to pick my battles." The voice said dripping in smart-ass-ery, another snicker rippled.
"That's it, you say one more thing, and I'll pound your face in." The crowd gasped, as Gaston stepped away from Belle.
"Do it, see where you end up." The crowd gasped again, Belle finally got to look at the other boy, sadly she didn't recognize him.
Gaston threw a punch, but missed as the other boy ducked and struck Gaston's stomach. Gaston staggered and caught his breath. The crowd now, including some teachers, was cheering. Gaston seemed to be even angrier, he lunged at the other boy, who again dodged and landed another hit, this time to Gaston's face. Gaston had had enough and decided to try a different strategy, he waited for the other to hit him. But the other boy knew not to even think about that, and so he calmly stood straight and walked to Belle, grabbing her arm the two went into the school.
As the two walked in silence down the empty hall, Belle took a good look at him. He had long brown hair, and strong facial features. He definitely worked out, but he didn't have the same structure that Gaston had. Before she could catch herself staring, he turned his head to meet her eyes. His eyes were piercing, electric blue that were beautiful and scary altogether. He grinned, then continued on to Mrs. Potts classroom. as the two sat down, Belle was wondering where her voice had gone.
"So..." She managed.
"So... What?" He asked.
"So, um, why did you do any of that?" Belle looked at him.
"What? You liked that?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Well, no, but-"
"Then I did you a favor." He shrugged.
"But why, you don't know me." She looked around a bit.
"Do I have to?"
"Again no, but-"
"Then again I did you a favor." He mocked her.
"But-"
"No buts, just accept it. Besides you'll pay me back soon."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Belle leaned away.
"I'll let you know once I know what it is that I want from you" He winked.
Just as Belle opened her mouth, Mrs. Potts opened the door and walked in. Eventually the rest of the class drizzled in as well. Belle knew if she wanted to talk to him she'd have to wait.
The first day went by too fast Belle thought. Belle was walking to her car when a younger looking boy came up to her; he had a higher voice, at least higher than the other boys. He had dirty blonde hair and sort of resembled Mrs. Potts.
"Um... Hey Belle... I'm Chip," he stuck his hand out, and Belle shook it, "I, uh, just wanted to ask if you would like to study with me? I'm having trouble understanding English class. I'm not failing, but I really want to get into a good college, I was just wondering if you'd be interested in kinda tutoring me... But if not I understand." His at first cheery face fell, as if Belle had said no.
"Chip, I'd be happy to help, what English class do you take?" Belle said willing to help anyone with the right thoughts about the future.
"Same one you take, I'm in your class." Chip's face lighting up then burning out again, "you haven't seen me; I sit in front of you."
"Sorry, I only pay attention to the books and occasionally the teacher." Belle couldn't grasp the fact this guy was in her class.
"Never mind, when are you available to tutor me?" Chip said.
"Right now works, if you can? I have a pretty boring life at the moment." Belle admitted shrugging.
"Awesome, thank you so much, met you in library in five, okay? I've got to tell my mom where I'm going to be." Chip hurried back to the school when Belle finally put two and two together and figured Chip was Mrs. Potts' son. Then she, herself went down to the school to get ready.
Belle wasn't paying as much attention as she probably should have being as that the football team wasn't on the field, but Belle was too caught up in her own thoughts to recognize the signs of danger. Just as she was about to enter the library she saw Le Fou standing in her way.
"Hello," she said, gripping her book a little closer.
"You aren't going to move from here" he said, a devious look on his features.
"Excuse you?" she questioned.
"I know you're smarter than that." He said, looking around Belle.
"Le Fou, you're scarring her." Gaston said, causing Belle to turn as fast as she could.
"Oh, look at her," he said, touching her face causing Belle to drop her book.
"Gaston, please stop." Belle pleaded.
"But you're so beautiful, don't you know that two beauties always get together." Gaston said, bringing his face ever so closer to hers.
"Gaston, don't touch me." Belle said, pushing his hand away.
"So, you wanna play like that, huh?" He asked, pushing her against the door.
Belle tried to find some way out of this, but her focus was on how close Gaston was getting. He puckered his lips; Belle had trouble holding down her lunch now. Sadly this door swung toward her so she couldn't slip through. Instead she turned towards self-defense 101, and kneed Gaston in the groin. The shock to Gaston dropped him immediately. But it seemed fate was at odds with Belle since when she looked around the entire football team was surrounding them.
Well, I'm dead. Belle thought. The team was inching their way towards both Belle and Gaston. Just before the team was able to pull Gaston up, he pushed them away and stalked toward Belle.
"Now, you've got two options. Either you and I ditch this place and have some fun, or I'll have the fun by myself." Gaston was livid, as anyone would be assuming they just got a full system reset.
Before Belle could answer, there was a break in the team as the boy from the morning shoved his way through and punched Gaston, hard, in the face. Calmly he picked up the book and gave it back to Belle, then went into the defensive position ready for the other mounds of flesh to move in, but they didn't no matter how loud Gaston screamed at them to get him, they wouldn't move. Belle thinking fast before a teacher came and grabbed his hand and ran in to the library.
"Thanks for fighting those... wolves." Belle said once she caught her running breath.
"No problem, by the way I'm Adam" Belle checked him out again.
Belle looked around hoping there was still time before Chip was supposed to be there. "I'm Belle; I must say I owe you big time... again... Well, I've got to tutor someone talk to you later." Belle went to an empty table and waited for Chip.
