Disclaimer: I am not Ally Carter and I do not own Gallagher Girls, and I did not discover all this science

Love and science mix. You can shake your head and roll your eyes all you want, but take it from someone who knows, love and science do go together.

We'll start with lust. Not love, that comes after the lust.

There are chemicals in our brain that cause us to lust after the opposite (and for some people the same) sex. These chemicals also cause us to be the object of lust. They give us a certain smell, a certain octave of voice, a certain look that causes us to be more attractive. Of course every other girl on the planet has this chemical that does similar things and sometimes we're after the same boy. Walk into a night club anywhere and there is a biochemical warfare going on you can't even begin to imagine the proportions of.

And then there's love.

Believe it or not, there is actually a chemical in our brain that appears when we're in love and it makes us want to stay in love. This chemical can be active for a majority of a lifetime and can be found in married couples. And unfortunately, even though the Gallagher Academy has exceptional technology available to its students, a CAT scan, is not one of them.

Because wouldn't it be nice if we all had a CAT scan available to us to know if we were in love? To know that it wasn't just lust? Wouldn't it be absolutely wonderful to know that you're really not crazy when you have the want and need to always be around a certain someone, it's really just this chemical in your brain. It's really just love.

Because when you're six-teen and have one of the highest IQs in the world sometimes it's easier to just take a a CAT scan then to sort through all your emotions.

Einstein's theories = easy. Your theories about your feelings for a certain someone names Jonas = hard.

Being a spy = easy. Being a girl = hard.

Simple math.

As a scientist, I know the odds of Jonas and I having a healthy workable relationship that lasts is near impossible. As a girl, I know that I deserve a fairy tale ending.

I said love and science mix. I didn't say they mix well.

But I'm big on fairy tale endings.
