'Thinking'

"Talking"

A gentle, warm breeze tugged playfully at the loose strands of sandy, gold- brown curls framing 14- year- old Elizabeth Swann's moon- lit face. The eerie blue- tinged glow made the freckles dotting her nose stand out against her pale skin. The cooled sand made walking barefooted much less painless, but the sifting grains made her stroll barely any easier than its scorching day- time equivalent. Plopping down on the beach, Elizabeth stared at the ever- changing ocean.

'It's so quiet when the sun goes down, it is a miracle that no one else is here to enjoy the view. The ocean really is more beautiful at night.' A soft rustling and rhythmic footsteps startled the young teenager out of her personal thoughts. However, the familiar laugh assured her that it was only her friend, Will Turner.

"You really shouldn't be out so late at night, Lizzie," stated Will as her sat down beside her.

Elizabeth sighed, "Yes Will, I know, but this is the only way for me to see the ocean at night, let alone without my shoes and a proper dress." Looking his friend up and down, Will realized that, indeed, Elizabeth lacked shoes and was wearing her nightgown. Blushing, he moved over a bit to create enough space to be deemed proper enough when your partner was wearing little more then her under garments.

Laughing, Elizabeth slid over so her sleeve brushed against his sleeve. "Please Will, we are friends, there is no need for such formalities."

Smiling as well Will noticed a small shiver that coursed through Elizabeth's small frame. Shyly, he reached over and draped his arm lightly over her shoulders. Grinning, Elizabeth leaned into his muscled torso and gazed into the sea, unaware of the gaze of a certain blacksmith- in- training.

"Do you remember that night Will?" asked a now 24- year- old Elizabeth.

"Of course Love, how could I forget?" Will replied, smiling gently down at his wife as she eased into his arm like she did ten years ago. Both pirates gazed out at the horizon as a familiar ship, with a familiar captain appeared into their field of view. Standing up, Will and Elizabeth ran through the sand to the row boat that would take them to their ship.
