One by One epilogue

Elizabeth and her family were driving home, they had finally managed to find a road that wasn't heavily trafficked, but it took hours and Elizabeth was beginning to fall asleep, it had to be at least midnight. "Those fireworks were good though." Elizabeth's mom said to her son. "Yeah but I'm just saying it wasn't really worth it." He replied. "I mean at this rate we're gonna get home at one AM." He complained. "Hey Jayden can you check to see if your sisters asleep?" Jayden's dad asked him. "Sure thing." He replied grabbing his sisters arm and shaking her gently, when she doesn't respond he started shaking her faster finally getting a rise out of her. "W-what the he..ck why?" She yawned. "Because I can." Jayden replied smiling. "Well you don't have to be a smartass." Elizabeth said half asleep. "Hey language!" Her mother scolded. "Sorry; Jayden can you please let me sleep, it's gonna be a million hours before we get home, and I can't wa….wait that long." Elizabeth yawned struggling to keep her eyes open. "Jay, let your sister sleep." His dad said glaring at him through the rear view mirror. "Yes dad." He obeyed his smile fading, soon after Elizabeth began to drift off again.

"Happy birthday!" Elizabeth's mom, dad and brother yell in unison. "Thanks!" She yells excitedly staring at her beautifully made cake with the words 'Happy Birthday Liz' marked on it with icing. Elizabeth looks up at her family members, they were smiling very awkwardly, making her feel uncomfortable, suddenly her mother's eyes started to turn a white color, the skin around her mouth began to rot away. "What? Mom? Dad? Jayden?" She cries trying to move out of her seat but she's stuck the creature that resembled her mom jumped at her, knocking Elizabeth to the floor, she tried to crawl away but to no avail. "Stay away!" Elizabeth yells as her 'mom' bites her shoulder causing an indescribable pain to erupt through her neck and shoulder, her father and brother jump on her as well biting at her arms, she was going to die, eaten alive by her own family.

Elizabeth woke up screaming, her brother was shaking her vigorously, trying to wake her up again, this time she didn't complain. "You were pretty loud, yelling and grabbing at your shoulders, what was your dream about?" Jayden asked. "It doesn't matter." She replies wiping the sweat off of her forehead. "It might make you feel better if you talk about it." Her mom said smiling. "I'm fine." Elizabeth sighed. "Okay, if you say so…" Her mother replied worry evident in her speech. "Well I think it's safe to say I'm not going back to sleep tonight." Elizabeth muttered to herself.

"So Liz so what do you want to do for your birthday?" Jayden asked, making Elizabeth shiver, recalling her dream. "I'd like to spend some time with you guys." She swallows. "No friends? Not even Grace?" Her dad questioned. "Yeah you know, I think I'm getting a bit too old for inviting my friends to stay the night." Elizabeth replied. "Okay, so do you want to go to a movie?" Her mom asked. "Yeah." She replied blowing a piece of blonde hair out of her eye. "Fourteen, the big One-Four; tomorrow's a big day." Elizabeth's mom whispers excitedly. "Not really, I'm just turning fourteen, it's not that exciting." Elizabeth said weakly. "Liz, you're not looking too good, maybe you should get some more sleep." Jayden said feeling her forehead, seeing if she had a fever. "I-I don't want to have another nightmare." Elizabeth whispered to her brother. "Everyone has the Liz, just because you had a nightmare before doesn't mean you'll have one now, please try." He replied. "Okay." She whispered leaning her head against the inside of the car she closes her eyes and lets sleep consume her.
