32. Careful
Summary: Harry plans to follow the rules for once so that he may get what he desires.

Harry was not going to blow it. He knew all of the rules and he was going to follow them to the letter, even if it killed him. It might be agonizing to continually follow them until he graduated from Hogwarts, but it was well worth it. The guidelines themselves were written on a parchment hidden in the mokeskin pouch that Hagrid had given him for his birthday. Harry thought it a little weird that there were actual rules written on paper but it was agreed upon that there be a copy, only because there was a container that blocked access to all but the wearer. The rules themselves were standard, if situations like these occurred regularly. Dumbledore had slight knowledge of what was happening but could not really speak and tell them that he approved though they received the message from his amused and joyful silence.
Albus was probably the only one that was not shocked by the recent development of a very unlikely relationship. Considering that Harry was still a student under Severus, few people knew about the relationship at all. The Headmaster, covertly, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione were the only ones in the know. Not only was it better for Harry, being free to speak with his closest friends about his not-quite-lover but it was easier to cover up his frequent absences from Gryffindor Tower when he had a group of friends that could help explain his disappearances.
Even with the easy reliance on his friends, the Golden Boy took extreme caution to ensure that he was careful all of the time. Severus had made sure that nothing too untoward happened when they were alone in the teacher's private quarters. They didn't have long to wait; there was only about a week left of Harry's sixth year and then after Harry finished his seventh and final year at school then Severus would finally give into the desire that Harry could see shining in his eyes when they spent time together.
It would be made more strenuous by the fact that Dumbledore had finally allowed Harry to stay somewhere other than the Dursleys, using a rather inventive plan. Harry would spend two weeks at the home of an available Order member before rotating on to the next person's house, meaning two straight weeks with Severus, though there would always be regular check-ins and meetings.
Harry wasn't sure whether he could wait until he was officially equal to the Potions Master while being forced to be in that close of proximity to his incredibly hot boyfriend but he was sure that if they did wait to come together until the night of Harry's graduation that it would be well worth it. Until that time, Harry was positive that he would do exactly as he was supposed to.
