Dean bent close, yelling in Sam's ear over the roaring drone of the Indy style cars streaking around the racetrack. "So, d'you like your belated birthday present, Sam?"
"Yeah, but you're enjoying it more."
"Look around. Whatdya see?"
Sam glanced at the packed stadium, taking in the ridiculously cute toddlers in their pit crew uniforms, the busty blondes in checkered flag t-shirts and the beer-bellied men in Indy 500 gimme caps. "Crowds?"
Dean tsked and explained, "People watching the race, before returning to their ordinary 9-to-5 lives on Tuesday."
Sam finally got it. "Thanks for the taste of normal, bro."
A/N: Growing up, I had to share my Dad's attention with the Indianapolis 500 Race on my birthday, the real Memorial Day, May 30. (Memorial Day became a Monday Holiday as part of the energy-saving Monday Holiday Act in 1974.)
