The Flyboy's Wings

By Major Mike Powell III

The war was over.

The machinations and conspiracies of a few hiding in the shadows had doomed the lives of many, yet they were brought into the light and made to pay for their crimes.

The Vajra had now begun to understand Humanity, and after the final battle, they had allowed what remained of the Frontier and Galaxy fleets to finally come to rest on their home planet.

The fight was finally over, thanks to the power of music; the music of the Inter-Dimensional Cinderella and the Galaxy Fairy, and the might of the two's own Valkyrie, their flyboy, the young man whose wish to fly in a real sky had finally been granted.

And now, as Alto Saotome bid his final farewell to his dear friend, his bird, his Messiah as it went up in a blaze of glory, Alto's own proverbial wings stood next to each other on a grassy hill, looking up at their sweetheart swooping away from the explosion of his trusty VF-25.

The two young women stood in silence, letting Alto say his goodbyes to his Valkyrie, before Ranka Lee turned to her friend, fellow idol, and perhaps…

"You know, Sheryl-san? I will not give up. Not in singing…nor in love!" She spoke with both sadness and joy, her garnet eyes looking into Sheryl Nome's sky-blue's.

Ranka would have expected the coral-pink-haired woman to reply the same, to say she would not give up on winning Alto's affections for herself. However, Sheryl looked at the flyboy, high up in the sky and reached her hand out, her palm open and fingers spread apart, before smiling serenely and moving her fingers to take on a plane-like form.

"Ranka-chan…wasn't Alto clear enough during the battle?" She asked softly. The green-haired girl blinked twice. Sheryl chuckled. "I think he was pretty clear. He doesn't want to choose, you see. We both know he can't choose. That's why…" Sheryl turned to Ranka, bring her displayed hand down, swooping down like a graceful bird in a dive towards the Cinderella's face.

For a moment, Ranka panicked and closed her eyes tightly…yet she was only met by a soft caress to her cheek. She gasped and opened her eyes, confusion clear as day. Sheryl smiled sweetly.

"There is no need for us to be rivals, Ranka-chan. Our Princess' wings are like those of a Valkyrie, and a Valkyrie can't fly with only one wing. He said it himself: we are his wings, Ranka-chan."

The quarter-Meltran's garnet eyes widened in shock and her hair bobbed up.

"Y-You…Sheryl-san, you mean you are-?!" The Cinderella was rendered silent as the Fairy's soft, pink lips landed on hers like a whisper in the wind. Ranka's eyes remained open, as did Sheryl's during the kiss.

Their lip lock only lasted a few long seconds before Sheryl pulled away, smiling sweetly at Ranka. The younger girl looked into the coral-pinkette's smiling and loving eyes as the older woman pulled away, holding Ranka gently and confidently by a hand on her soft, blushing cheek and her other hand on the quarter-Meltran's tiny waist.

Soon, realization dawned on the Inter-Dimensional Cinderella's face…and she smiled at the Galaxy Fairy. Alto's and her Galaxy Fairy.

Suddenly, a classic song came to Sheryl and Ranka's minds, and they sang it softly as they embraced each other and looked up at Alto as he did a stylish flyby above the two ladies using his EX-suit, twisting in the air to give them both a beaming smile and salute as he flew passed.

"Zoom zoom, zoom zoom! Our boyfriend is…a Pilot~!"
