"Come on Piper!" My voice blended in with the talking and laughter of the rest of the camp,
"We're going to be late for dinner!"
"Coming, coming," Piper huffed back.
Maybe I will be claimed today. After all, it has been a month already.
A month at camp and I was still undetermined! I wanted Athena to recognize me, didn't she remember the promise the Olympians made to Percy?
"Jessica! Over here!" Piper had somehow gotten ahead of me and had a table saved for us (Chiron, Mr.D and the rest of the Olympians had decided that we didn't have to sit with our bunk, due to the fact that some bunks [*cough* *cough* Poseidon's and Zeus's] were only 1 person each).
"Us" meant Piper, Jason, Leo (who I had an instant crush on), Skylar, and Percy.
Skylar is soo lucky, Athena claimed her already, and she has the dream of her life as a boyfriend, Percy Jackson. All I have so far is a hunch of who my mom is, a crush and two good friends.
"All right, all right!" A hush fell over the camp, Chiron was speaking, "It..."
And then a hush.
Slowly, I looked around. Everyone was staring at me! Or, more precisely, above my head. My eyes darted as far up as they could go as I tried to get a glimpse of the symbol above me. I saw a flash of color, and instantly knew it was Athena's. I suddenly felt something extremely heavy in my hands and looked down. War and Peace, one of the best books ever, was cradled in my hands, on top of a laptop, that wouldn't be released for at least 20 more years. I let myself swim in all the thoughts that were swirling through my mind.
Finally! What took her so freaking long to claim me? She broke the promise made to Percy and its not like she should be ashamed to say I'm her daughter. Wait, should she feel ashamed? I don't think so. But, maybe that's because everyone always thinks they are good. Why War and Peace, I mean, I know its a good book and all, but it is considered easy to Athenians, Piper told me about how Annabeth was teased in her cabin because of it. So does Athena think I'm not as smart as
"Um... Jessica?" Sharply, my head turned to follow the noise. The only person I saw was Leo, but dinner just started.
"Sorry to break up your very interesting, mental conversation with yourself, but I wanted to tell you dinner is over, and everyone's gone back to their cabins."
I stood up to go to my new cabin, doubts in tow.
"Wait!" Leo jumped up, "Before you go, can I ask you something?"
His pinkie finger burst into flames.
Why? Is he nervous? But, what question would make him so nervous to ask? Unless..no! Don't think about that Jessica. It will only hurt your heart more when he doesn't ask that.
"Sure, fire me with questions."
He smiled weakly at my joke.
"Willyougooutwithme?"
I stared at him with, my eyes wider than my tiny step-brother's eyes, and believe me, his eyes are huge.
"Um... I guess I'll be going then Jess..."
"Oh my gods! Yes Leo!"
