"Is that what you do, Doctor? You just leave us one day?" asked Martha indignantly.
"Not if you're blond," snarked Jack.

The Doctor whirled on them. He wasn't sure what he said, something about blogging. Looking back on it, the argument wasn't really that strong. His mind was somewhere else though…
Their hands clasped and they went charging down the street, straight at the danger.
"Where do you want to go?" he asked her.
"Let's see…" she grinned at him, before spinning a few dials at random. "Let's go here!"
"You think you're so clever!"

He had loved her. She was the most amazing woman he had ever travelled with, and now she was gone, trapped in another universe. He missed her so much. When he first saw Rose, he thought, for a second, it was she. If he squinted hard enough, dulled his mental senses enough, Rose could have been her. They could even behave the same way sometimes, for all the disparity in their species. Eventually, he came to love Rose for her own sake, but every so often, if she caught him unawares, he could have sworn she had returned to him.
Jack thought he never left blonds behind. He had only left one, and it had haunted him ever since.
