Katara was in the large crowd in front of the palace, where Zuko stood, ready to become the new Fire Lord. Aang soon entered the scene and stood right next to Zuko. The second he had walked out, Katara realized something. The moment she stared into his eyes, she knew. She knew that she wasn't confused anymore. At that moment she knew the answers to all her questions. She knew her feelings towards the Avatar.

A few weeks after the coronation, as the group traveled to Ba Sing Se, Katara was trying to convince herself that he didn't feel the same way about her anymore. After all, she had probably hurt him by rejecting him on Ember Island, saying that it wasn't the right time. But after he had brought balance and peace back to the world, they didn't have anything tying them down at the moment, now seemed like the right time. Katara mused on the fact that Aang was now a fully realized Avatar. He had matured beyond all belief. Maybe he was over her now… but one thing was still certain: Katara still loved him.

While Katara hugged Aang on the balcony of General Iroh's tea shop, she knew she could open her heart to him, because she knew that he won't let her down and that he's willing to sacrifice everything for her, even his job as the Avatar.

After they kissed, Aang knew that he didn't want her to leave his side, and that nothing could ever replace her. Katara knew that she will always love him with all her heart.
