A/N not mine, I own nothing.
I am writing this in honor of the fact that, even though I now live in Georgia, my homestate of Pennsylvania has had the same sex marriage ban lifted by a federal judge. It was deemed unconstitutional. Many may not agree with this, but that's alright. I just happen to believe in the saying of... life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What better way to celebrate all three, by marrying the one you love.
Hector's Pursuit of Happiness
Many people didn't realize that Hector lived in Philadelphia with his partner of 10 years. They kept it quiet and happily lived their lives. On May 20th, 2014 when the same sex marriage ban was lifted in Pennsylvania by a federal judge a plan was put into motion.
The next morning Hector and Marco were joind by Stephanie and Ranger, as they were the first couple in Philly to apply for a marriage license.
They celebrated with a wonderful brunch. They also had a three day waiting period in which they would plan there simple ceremony.
Stephanie couldn't have been happier for her friends. They deserve this chance more than anyone she could think of. Who really cares if they are two men, they love each other, and are very happy together. That's all that matters.
Ranger was his normal calm self, but inside he was shouting for joy. Hector, a man he admired for his ability to live the life he wanted, was getting what he had wanted for so long.
Hector couldn't wipe the smile from his face, here he was finally being able to marry the man he has loved for so long. He looked over at Marco and saw the same happiness and love reflected in his eyes.
After their brunch they made their way back to Rangeman, with Marco. Marco would be making his first appearance there, being introduced as Hector's fiancee.
Once they arrived on the fifth floor, the cheers around them were deafening, someone had let the cat out of the bag. Marco was introduced and welcomed to the family, because that's what they were, a family. Ella even made a cake to help them celebrate.
When they were asked about a wedding they explained that it would be simple, with only Steph and Ranger as witnesses, but they would have a reception afterwards at their home for all who could attend.
The ceremony would be taking place on Saturday, and Ranger made arrangements for contract workers to come in and cover for them. No one wanted to miss toasting these two men.
The next few days were a flurry of activity for everyone, as they all wanted to help in some way.
Stephanie helped Hector find their rings, and found someone to take pictures of the ceremony and reception afterwards.
Ranger was giving them an all expense paid honeymoon. No price was being spared for these two very special people.
Saturday came upon them quickly, and the ceremony was simple. Their vows were spoken and rings exchanged. Stephanie cried tears of joy along with the couple. No one noticed that Ranger had wiped away a few of his own as well.
They all arrived at the reception, and the celebration went on until the early hour of the morning. They couldn't help but become overwhelmed at how much this meant to them.
The time had come, and they were finally free to pursue their happiness. Nothing made them happier.
