I'm falling apart
I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart

The battle was finally over and they had won. However, for George Weasley, it felt like they had lost. He was standing beside the lifeless body of his twin brother, Fred. He wished that he was laying there with Fred. He wished that Fred was standing there with him. He wished that Lord Voldemort had never returned. He wished that he had never met the boy who lived and been destined to help him. He wished that he could hear Fred's laugh. He wished that he could cry, but no tears would come. He cursed himself for not saving Fred. He cursed Fred for not saving himself. He cursed his parents for not locking the lot of them up somewhere until this whole thing was over. He cursed Harry Potter for living all those years ago and bringing this war about. He cursed Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters for killing his brother.
In his entire life, George had never felt so alone and sad. He felt like part of him was missing. He hadn't even felt like this when he lost his ear. Fred was the other half of him and without him he didn't know how to be George.
He saw his parents weeping over the body of their son. He saw Charlie, Bill, and Percy standing around as well with tears sliding down their cheeks. He saw his youngest brother, Ron, in the arms of Hermione. He saw Ginny wrapped in the arms of Harry Potter and his anger at him vanished. Harry hadn't really caused any of this. It wasn't his fault. He had been through just as much as the rest of them had.
George felt completely alone in his grief. He knew that the rest of his family grieved for Fred, but not in the way that he did. They all had each other to lean on, but he felt like he had no one. That's when he looked up and saw her standing a few feet away from him. Alexis Haven, Fred, and George had known each other since their first year at Hogwarts. They were best mates. If anyone could possibly understand what he was feeling, it would be her, he thought.
Lexi had been standing a few feet from George for several minutes. After the battle was over, she had begun to search for the Weasley family, which was like her family as well. When she found them and saw them grieving over the body of one of her best friends, Fred, she had stopped dead in her tracks. Tears immediately had flowed down her face. She just couldn't believe that her best friend and the first boy that she had ever kissed was dead.
Lexi and George's eyes locked and she rushed over to him. She threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in the crook of his neck. Immediately, he wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her hair. The tears finally came.
