Arms
"Yamato has really nice arms."
Sora looked over at the connected kitchen where her boyfriend was making them lunch. He was wearing a sleeveless top that was similar to the one he wore during their first adventure in the Digital World all those years ago. As Sora watched Yamato use his hands and, effectively, his exposed arms to prepare lunch for them, she had to concur that Mimi had a point – he did have really nice arms.
But Sora wasn't one to gush. "Yeah, I guess so," she settled in saying.
Mimi sighed enviously. "You are so lucky to have a boyfriend, Sora." Her eyes glazed over as she envisioned the couple alone together. "I bet he makes you feel so safe when he wraps you in a hug with those arms of his."
Sora raised an eyebrow, giving her friend an amused smile. "I guess so," she repeated, used to Mimi being boy-crazy.
"Boys are so . . . so boyish and masculine and hot," Mimi continued. She placed a finger on her chin, pondering. "I think Yamato's arms are the most masculine thing about him."
"Really?" Sora asked, a little surprised. "I think his voice is. It almost seemed like he hit puberty at ten, don't you remember?"
Mimi nodded her head thoughtfully, thinking back to their first digital adventure. "Yeah, you're right," she agreed. But she couldn't help taking another glance at her blond friend's arms. "But Yamato's arms are the most masculine and attractive thing about him," she insisted. "There's a reason why he was showing them off even when he was ten."
Well, there were other attributes about her boyfriend that Sora found more attractive. But Mimi's new appreciation of Yamato's arms did amuse her. "He's been going to the gym more often," Sora informed her friend. "In preparation for the National Defense Academy."
"Oh," Mimi nodded her head. "He looks so strong. If he was my boyfriend I'd just touch his arms all day long, Sora, really. I'm so jealous."
Sora chuckled good-naturedly. If any other girl had said that to her, she'd have been a bit annoyed at them for openly fawning over her boyfriend. But she knew Mimi was just being Mimi – the younger girl wasn't actually crushing on Yamato.
"Damnit," they both heard Yamato say a little louder than he'd obviously meant to, because otherwise he'd be out of their earshot. Both girls turned towards the kitchen to look at him.
"What's wrong?" Sora raised her voice, so that it reached him from across the room.
Yamato seemed to pause in thought for a moment, before he simply shook his head and walked out of the open kitchen towards them. He had an unopened jar of peeled tomatoes in his hands. "Sora," he began in his deep voice, once he had reached them. His tone was clearly frustrated. "Can you please open this? I've tried and it just won't give."
Sora and Mimi looked at each other – and laughed.
