Sooooo... 'tis my first fic... The chapter's a bit short, so I'm sorry about that. Reviews/constructive criticism are welcome and please tell me if there is a spelling mistake and I'll sort it out ASAP. Other than that, enjoy :D.
Chapter 1: Test Run
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Emile asked looking warily at the strange device in front of him. The device in question was a sort of teleporting machine that could bypass the radar fence surrounding the perimeter of Big Mt.
"Positive, and if it is a success we can be free of Big Mt. once and for all! The 'fertile testing ground' will be ours to experiment on!" Dr Klein replied.
The courier thought for a moment. If the Think Tank managed to enter the wasteland, no good would surely come from it as Dr Mobius had explained. He would have to come up with a plan to discourage them. Suddenly an idea came to him.
"The probability of success isn't very high and you could teleport somewhere inconvenient, such as the middle on Lake Mead. let me go on a test run, it would be easy for me to return using the transportalponder." He would return to the Think Tank telling them that it only teleported him to the perimeter of Big Mt. Hopefully the Think Tank would give up trying to enter the Mojave for a while longer.
Emile expected Klein to speak first when Dala interjected, "It appears my little teddy bear is right, think of it as a test run."
Dr Klein paused for a moment. "Very well, non-lobotomite," he continued, "you may go for this 'test run'". Emile let out a quick inaudible sigh of relief but it was a bit early for relief when Dr Klein spoke up again. "You must do it now."
Thoughts flashed through Emile's head as he imagined what he could encounter when he materialised; he could appear in the middle of a deathclaw nest and be ripped to shreds before he could react; and he had a tonne of stuff that took up precious Pip-Boy space. The courier shifted his arm to check if his weapon was still holstered at his hip. He was reassured to feel his ranger sequoia in its rightful place.
"Sure, I'll go now," the courier said feigning indifference.
He awkwardly took a step toward the strange contraption in front of him before Dr Klein interrupted his walk to certain doom.
"Wait just a second..." Klein said with an air of suspicion. Emile tensed thinking the doctor had seen through his plot. He hesitantly looked up to the hovering doctor. "Do you know how to use it?" Dr Klein continued.
Emile thought his artificial heart was going to leap out of his chest with how quickly it was beating. He studied the teleportation device in front of him. "Don't you just press the big red button in the middle that says 'on'?" He asked nervously.
Klein paused as if it didn't seem so blatantly obvious to him. "Yes, that is correct, well done, and they wonder why I call you non-lobotomite," he said after a while.
The courier just nodded and continued his walk toward the death-trap thinking about a few of Dr Borous' monstrosities (especially cazadores) killing him slowly with their poison. He'd give him a piece of his mind if he could return from that.
Emile stood before the device and slowly lifted up his arm and proceeded to push the button labelled "on". A blue light enveloped Emile and in a flash he was gone from the Think Tank and Big Mt.
