Wrap Me Up In Your Arms
Lena could see it in her lover's eyes when she walked in that day and even if she couldn't see it in her eyes she could see it in the way she was walking. Not limping, no, but definitely not the normal confident stride that the police officer normally had. The vice principal also saw it in the way of her interactions with their kids. The way she said, "Hi babies," when she walked in was also a dead giveaway. It wasn't full of life, confidence, but it was still full of love. And that's what Lena loves about her wife that she could still put her day aside for a dinner with her family.
So Lena would wait until the two of them were in the privacy of their bedroom; the only place she knows her wife can break down with her in it. Lena will hear the story, she'll just has to wait.
That night, the couple was folding clothes in the bedroom when Lena couldn't take the silence anymore, "You wanna talk about you day?" She asked her wife.
"It was fine," Stef said in an attempt not to worry her wife. "Just the usual day."
"Except it wasn't and you want to protect me from whatever it is you went through today," Lena said folding the last of the shirts and putting the basket on the ground while sitting behind Stef.
Stef took a deep breath as Lena began rubbing the police officer's shoulders and back, "We had a drug bust today," Stef began as Lena worked knots out of Stef's shoulders, "and uh to make matters worse, there were three kids in there too."
"Oh man," Lena said. "How sad."
"Yeah, luckily they had other family to take them in, but that's not what made my day so bad." Stef said rubbing her face roughly as Lena continued her work in her wife's shoulder blades.
"What else happened?" Lena asked cautiously.
"We got called on a domestic today," she said. "The women died in my arms." Lena continued rubbing and just when she thought her wife was done, she heard her wife let out a sob.
Lena stopped rubbing to scoop the woman in her arms, rocking her back and forth.
"I wanted to save her," Stef cried, "she was - was pregnant." Stef then put her hand on her wife's growing belly. "And all I could think of when she was in my arms was that I have this beautiful wife, who's carrying my - our baby."
Lena kissed her wife's forehead, soothingly rocking them back and forth, "Let it out," she whispered. "Let it out." Stef cried for over twenty minutes and finally when she calmed down Lena said, "You don't have to be strong all the time. Not for me, never for me. You're not invincible baby." She kissed her forehead and then said, "How about I go draw us a bath." She shifted her wife into the lying down position on the bed and then went into the bathroom.
Several minutes later, Lena came out of the bathroom, and pulled her wife up and led the emotionally tired woman to the bathroom. Lena undressed them both and managed to get Stef between her legs in the hot bath.
Lena kissed the side of Stef's face and down her neck to her shoulder, they weren't sensual kisses, far from it, they were kisses to let the emotionally tired police officer know that the vice principal was there for her. That everything was going to be okay. That no matter how many bad days she had, Stef could always come home to her wife's arms and be safe.
That she will always be safe wrapped in the arms of Lena Adams Foster.
End.
