Chapter 1: Max's POV

I smiled as Fang walked up to, I was putting away some books, except for last period Math. Ugh I hate math.

"Hey" he said, smiling but it didn't reach his eyes. His eyes were far away. My stomach dropped, I knew that look to well. But smiled anyways.

"Hi" I said "I'm going to say hi to Nudge." And I quickly left without waiting for his response.

"Nudge!" I called, as soon as I saw her. I quickly slapped my hand over her mouth, this girl has a motor mouth, that's for sure.

"Sorry" I quickly apologized "but this is important, I think Fang is cheating on me" Nudge's eyes slowly widened as I explained my reasons and observations.

"Max, Fang would never. You do trust him, right?" Nudge asked slowly.

I did. I fully did. He was the first one I trusted since the incident. I slowly opened up to him and vice versa. Maybe I could trust him.

"I do, thanks Nudge you're right." I said quickly just as the bell rang. Ugh math.

I quickly left saying goodbye. As I entered the classroom, I quickly sat down. Even if I didn't like this subject, I still paid attention. Hey! I'm a good student! Top of all my classes, AP classes.

15 minutes in. Bored. I already knew this, thanks to my college courses. What? Head start for college.

I quickly excused myself to the bathroom. As I walked down the hall, I saw 2 shadows up against the lockers. Hmmm. Eavesdropping time! I quickly and quietly turned my camera on silent as I creped around the corner.

"Hey Nick" A female voice said. WAIT. I KNEW THAT VOICE. My blood ran cold.

Lissa and my boyfriend Nick were in an abandoned hallway. I knew it would happen.

They haven't said anything for a while but those noises I knew. I quickly snuck around the corner and took a couple of pictures.

Shouldn't I be crying? Yelling? Not for me. I just locked up my emotions. My impassive mask came up, the mask I haven't used around Fang in forever.

"Nick" I said, my voice a monotone. My face showed nothing.

Fang jumped in surprised, his eyes widening.

"Max, I-" I cut him off.

"It's fine, Nick. I'm used to it. But couldn't you have broken it off, first? Or… you wanted to hurt me didn't you? It was all a game to break the unbreakable Max. I shouldn't have trusted you. I was right, of course." I sighed to myself internally.

I turned to Lissa "He's all yours. We're through. I guess that's what you planned, huh?"

Without waiting for an answer, I walked out of the classroom. And ran outside. Away from him. Away from her. Away from my problems.
