The 12 helljumpers braced for the drop. It would take several minutes to land, and the survival rate was low. Some called them crazy. And for good reason. They were about to do something few live to tell the tale. But, people will do crazy, even suicidal things for something they love with all their heart….

The ODSTs heard the psst of pistons disconnecting and the chunk of the pods about to drop. Here they go. Headfirst into hell.
The sound of re-entry would have definitely destroyed the ears of these soldiers if they were not protected by the best headwear the UNSC had to offer for them. Then, it was eerily quiet. The metal teardrops had entered Earth's atmosphere. The stabilizer rods on the pods extended.
They were now a few minutes till impact. This was the crazy part. The troops were full aware of the dozens of ODSTs who had died on the drop to New Mombasa. It became hot and stuffy in the pods now. The G-force was unbearable. Death lingered on the hardened soldiers like a shadow, never leaving them ever.
