Fandom: (Source of the original work) The Forbidden Game Trilogy (The Hunter, The Chase, and The Kill) by L. J. Smith
I do not own any of the characters nor do I intend to cause offense, harm, or disrespect to anyone including the author. I really enjoy the trilogy and writing some creative work in the world created by L. J. Smith is my way of showing appreciation to her and her creativity.

Jenny was shaking involuntarily as her aching eyes leaked salty tears. She was exhausted; playing all these games, defending her friends, fighting Julian, heck, fighting Tom had just drained her. "Shhhhh," whispered Julian. He pressed a finger under her chin and bought her face to his. Gently he wiped one of her tears away. Still she could not stop glancing to the black void just in front of her; a vortex with an electric blue defining its edges; a vortex that would transport her from this world into the deadly shadow world, a world where she would be with Julian for eternity. Instead of being frightened she felt oddly comforted by this. Never again would she have to be so frightened of being caught. It had already happened.
"It was meant to be, Jenny. You know that. You can't fight it any longer."
"No-o-o," she shakily sobbed. "No," and with that Julian encased her in his arms whilst she wept. She was unleashing weeks of constrained emotion. She knew she could no longer fight. Since Summer had been killed in the last game Jenny had been unable to shake off the feeling of guilt surrounding her. If she had just agreed to stay with Julian from the beginning Summer would still be alive. Summer's death was Jenny's fault, and it was this truth which had knotted Jenny's stomach since the end of the last game. She felt sick with guilt. Jenny conceded that the games had gone on long enough.
"Julian?" Jenny breathed to quell her sobs so that she might be heard. "Julian?" She asked louder.
"Yes my darling Jenny?" Julian held her out in front of him so she could speak clearer. Jenny's head hung as the tears continued. But she wasn't shaking anymore.
"I'm tired of playing. I'm tired of fighting you Julian. But please, let my friend's go. They're only here because of me, they've done nothing wrong. Please don't hurt them." She looked at him pleadingly.
Unexpectedly he kissed her. It was warm and comforting, and she welcomed it, kissing him back. Julian's fingers wound in her hair, keeping her close. She felt so secure and safe. But she wanted a concrete answer to her plea. "Julian…" she stammered out, dragging herself away from his soft lips.
"I will return them safe I promise. Now are you ready?"
"Yes," she whispered, feeling relieved.
"Good," he answered kissing the top of her head. "Let's go. Don't be frightened."
And with that they both walked, hand in hand, towards the black hole inviting them. When Jenny's foot fell through the hole she experienced the same sickening sensation one experiences when they miss a step and their foot keeps falling through thin air. Only this time she kept falling. She gasped inwardly and Julian gave her hand a comforting squeeze. She shut her eyes, as her entire body fell through.
