Disclaimer: blah blah blah . . . I don't own anything . . . don't sue me . . . you know the drill.
Summary: The Anti-Prom episode from Pacey and Joey's POVs.
Note: Here's another song fic, this time I use "Hanging By A Moment" by Lifehouse. This song has been very popular among Pacey/Joey romance fics but I couldn't resist writing a fic for this song. I've been wanting to write this fic for a long time (the idea and plot has been in my head for months now) but I've been so busy, I kept on pushing it back on my priority list. But now that I have some time, here ya go.
Spoilers: Season Three – "The Anti-Prom"
Music Credit: "Hanging By A Moment" by Lifehouse
Feedback: I save every piece of feedback I get. I might not e-mail you back, but rest assure that the 30 seconds you wasted sending me an e-mail about your thoughts, was read and very much appreciated.

Joey
Jack says that I have to make the first move. Why do I have to make the first move? For once, I actually want the male dominance ideals to kick in. Did I just say that? Ha, I really can't control the words coming out of my mouth in severe state of fear. Much like the knot in my stomach at this moment. I spot him at the table, carelessly playing with a napkin. I take a deep breath before I lightly touch his broad shoulder. I need all the air I can manage to hold because I know that when he turns around and looks at me with his piercing blue eyes, I know that he'll take my breath away.

Sure enough, he does. Pacey seems so surprised, and with quiet grace he takes my outstretched hand and accepts my simple invitation.

Pacey
At this moment, the whole world stands still, and all that exists in my universe is the two of us. At this moment, everything is perfect. It's all perfect until I feel her freeze from under my touch. I know why she's stopped dancing, I know why she has a guilty look on her face. I watch her as she turns away to run after him, a sight that I've grown accustomed to over the years. She leaves a trail of her scent, I can still smell her.

I throw my head back as I bitterly laugh. How did I, Pacey Witter, womanizer extraordinaire get so whipped by a girl? I sigh as I realize that I'm not whipped, I'm in love. I'm in love with someone whose in love with someone else. At least for one moment, she was mine. At least for one moment, I was able to pretend that Dawson didn't exist. At least . . . at least I got to dance with her.

END.

"Hanging By A Moment"
by Lifehouse

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
Chasing after you

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held on to
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hangin by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely incomplete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me now

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held on to
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving in to
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That could change my mind
There is nothing else...
