Title: What Do You Believe?

By: oh-woah

Obviously, Natsu believes in taking care of his nakama. But what else?

I believe in spontaneity.

"Come on, Luce," the pink-haired dragonslayer whined as he waved the mission paper back and forth. "You need to pay your rent soon, don't you?"

The blonde sighed. Despite her grumpiness, Lucy still looked aborable to him. "But why that mission?"

Natsu gave her a foxy grin. "Because it's cool!"

After sending him a doubtful glance, she finally gave in. "Alright."

I believe in using your own strength to get you where you want to go.

"We should've taken the train, like normal people," his partner grumbled.

Though Natsu was unable to hide his disgusted grunt at the thought of the horrible transportation device, he used this as an opportunity to tease the blonde. "What, can't stand being alone with me?"

He schooled his face into the most serious expression he could muster.

Lucy flushed. "N-no, I mean - "

She broke off, catching the look on his face. Her expression was priceless when she realized Natsu had been teasing her. Lucy slapped his arm, obviously disgruntled. Laughing, Natsu threw an arm around his nakama's shoulders as they walked down the dirt path.

"D'aww, I was joking," he cooed. "You know I love ya', Lucy."

Oh, what was that phrase again? Care dem? I don't remember.

I think it means, "Seizing the day." The way I see it, it means that I believe in taking chances.

The pink-haired dragonslayer wasn't as dense as people thought he was.

As they sat in their hotel room, he knew Lucy was irritated. Natsu wasn't sure if it was entirely directed at him, so he asked. She denied being annoyed at anything, of course, but he was more attuned to Lucy's feelings than he was to most people's. When something bothered her, he itched to make it go away.

Natsu was persistent. "Was it that waitress?"

Lucy let out a loud huff and crossed her arms over her chest. "Yes! All she did was try and flirt with you all day - and I was sitting there, starving and waiting for her to give me my food - "

The rest of her rant was tuned out as it struck Natsu how beautiful she looked in that moment. Just out of the shower, her vanilla scented shampoo smelled inviting. Her eyebrows were scrunched adorably, and there was an angry blush on her cheeks.

Her lips were the most tempting, though. Natsu wanted to kiss them.

So he did, stopping Lucy in the middle of her rant. He pulled back, resting his forehead on hers. His heart was pounding wildly, veins coursing with adrenaline, almost as if he was in the middle of a battle.

Well, he had taken his chance. Now he just had to wait and see if Lucy accepted his budding feelings.

He didn't have to wait long (though every second felt like a year) because another moment later, Lucy gave him the most brilliant smile he had ever seen on her.
