Disclamer I don't own the characters of Avatar, Akiko belongs to my friend Kelseyalicia
"Zuko," a voice whispered in the empty air.
In this world you tried
Not leaving me alone behind
The old woman wandered through the fire palace from room to room remembering. This was the anniversary of his death all those years ago.
There's no other way
I'll pray to the gods let him stay
The memories ease the pain inside,
Now I know why
The aged Fire lady Akiko came to the garden were they had their first kiss. She turned, that was where he purposed under the cherry tree by her mother's grave when they were only teens; she remembered the blossoms were falling creating a curtain of pink and white making a world for just them and their love.
All of my memories keep you near.
In silent moments,
Imagine you'd be here.
She could still feels Zuko's arms around her, his breathe caress her cheek, and his passion when he kissed her.
All of my memories keep you near,
Your silent whispers, silent tears
Akiko moved on aimless wondering around not caring where she was heading. She passed Iroh's favorite place to sit and have tea. When he had past, Zuko started to have his morning tea there.
Made me promise I'd try
To find my way back in this life.
In the distance she could hear children voices laughing.
I hope there is a way
To give me a sign you're okay.
The scene she came upon was her daughter playing with her young family by the turtle-duck pond. She remembered when her daughter was young how Zuko would chase Izumi, scoop her up and toss Izumi in the air. Making her laugh with delight.
Reminds me again it's worth it all
So I can go home.
All of my memories keep you near.
A tear silently slid down her cheek.
In silent moments,
Imagine you'd be here.
All of my memories keep you near,
Your silent whispers, silent tears.
That night before Akiko went to bed she placed the fire lily comb that Zuko had first given to her by the picture of him on the table beside her bed. In her dreams she heard a voice.
Together in all these memories
I see your smile.
"Wake up my love," a smooth voice whispered. She felt something soft glide down her cheek. Akiko woke up in a meadow, the sun shining gently through the trees.
"Zuko?" she breathed. Zuko sat next to her smiling and holding a fire lily. "But…how?" Akiko asked.
"Shhh, your home," Zuko kissed her. Home, she thought wrapping her arms around him. Akiko was home.
All the memories I hold dear.
Darling, you know I'll love you
Till the end of time.
All of my memories keep you near.
In silent moments,
Imagine you'd be here.
All of my memories keep you near,
Your silent whispers, silent tears.
All of my memories...
