Jess woke up to his radio alarm clock... which announced the date right after the news flash. "Damn it," the mumbled and tried to hide beneath the pillow. Today 10 years ago he and Rory had broken up. It was his personal friday the 13th, if you want to put that way. He didn't want to get up. Just didn't want to. And he didn't. Instead he stayed beneath his warm blanket and thought about the last years. The last years and Rory.

Ever since Rory had broken up with that prick Logan their circle of hell had started. When they had first seen each other again it had been by chance, they had both been at an gallery opening. That night they had surrended to each other in passion and longing that had been held back so long neither of them knew it still existed.

They both had been going from relationship to relationship during the last years. Both of them hoping that this time it would be the real thing. He knew this from their night long conversations. But none of their brief partners had been able to fill this gap that both felt in their heart when the other wasn't arround. They had sometimes met by chance, even on the other side of the country. And sometimes they had actually arranged to see each other, one calling the other when the desperation became unbearable.

Their meetings had a scary pattern. Rory would lead him to the hotel room or bedroom of either their flats. They would indulge in the sensations the other would provoke while exploring the others body with hands, mouth, tongue. Each time felt like the first time. And they always found a rythm so easily, so completely naturally. Sensing the other's mood and desire that particular day. And only after they are both covered in the other's sweat, tired and drunk from the explosion of emotions, the first words would be spoken. It was usually him to break the silence. And the conversations came just as easily as the intimacy. Without the slightest awkwardness or hesitations. They would discuss everything, from politics to emotional things. From buisness stuff to family affairs.

True. They had never done that when either one of them was in a relationship. They were faithful. But Jess was glad they had only seen each other twice in that situation. Those times it had been awkward at first. Even though the conversation came just as easy as every other time, they both sensed that something was missing. That the physical intimacy was something they both were sad to miss out on that day.

Another news flash on the radio. An hour was gone.

Jess had been thinking about all this for an hour, completely unaware of the time. He had the sudden sensation, that he could feel rory's lips on his, her hands exploring his torso but was rudely woken from this day dream by the door bell. He grunted to himself, got up, threw on a pair of jeans and went to the door. He opened it...

... and Rory stood in front of him. As beautyful as ever, despite the fact that her ocean blue eyes shone with tears. She flung herself into his arms, holding him as tight as if she was afraid for her life. He kissed the top of her head, sighed and led her inside, secretly glad he apparently wasn't the only one having trouble with this particular date.
