Into the Night.
I think Wyatt enjoyed dragging me places. This time it was to the Oriental Saloon, where there was to be music and dancing during the night.
"Wyatt, is your Josie performing or something?" I asked before we entered the building. Wyatt was finally seeing he loved Josie, and that maybe it wasn't so bad to be around her.
"At first yes, but there's someone else there too." He smiled.
"Oh? Someone new catch your eye?" I laughed.
"No, but she'll certainly catch yours." We walked into the saloon to hear music and laughter.
I saw that I was correct, Josephine was performing. Her fellow actor friend was playing the piano as she sang some sweet song. I looked over at Wyatt who looked like he was seeing heaven.
Josie finished her song, but the piano kept going. She came over to me and Wyatt and said hello to me. I simply nodded back. She asked Wyatt for a dance and he agreed. He winked at me and soon left me to myself.
I must not have been paying attention, for soon there was a familiar scent in the room. I looked over at the piano and there standing next to it was Amaryllis. She looked amazing in a new dress, which was probably why I hadn't seen her during the day.
The music started again, it was an upbeat song, and Amaryllis then grabbed a young man's hands and started dancing with him. Lord I hoped she'd dance with me.
I watched as she kept dancing with a few different men, each time it seemed she was getting closer to me.
Eventually she came over to me, she didn't say anything, she only looked me in the eyes and grabbed my hands. She knew I wouldn't reject her.
We danced and our eyes never left each other's. I could tell there were other men who wanted to dance with her. I smiled, knowing she'd only dance with me now.
The music ended and we stopped dancing. Amaryllis smiled and kissed my cheek, "Thank you for the dance Doc. You're a great dancer."
"As are you my dear." I placed an arm around her waist.
Suddenly she smiled like she had some master plot set up in her mind. She grabbed my hand and dragged me outside, "It's too crowded in here." She led me outside to the back of the saloon where there was no one else. I had no idea what she was thinking, she was impossible to read.
She looked even more amazing, if that was possible in the light of the full moon. She curtsied in front of me, "Do you care for a dance?"
The music started again inside, loud enough for us to hear, and I smiled, "I'd love to." I took her hands in mine, and we danced on into the night.
