It's like you hear a song on the radio, but you've just gotta see what else is playing before you decide you actually want to listen to that song. What happens if a great song comes on and you missed it though, so you flip back, but all you get is the new and then you went from something to nothing...
-Party of Five
Tawni didn't tell the full truth to Sonny. Yes, Chad and Tawni had gone out. But it wasn't just a childhood thing. It went on from the time that they were six to when they were fourteen. They're relationship had become more serious as the years went on, Chad told Tawni he loved her, and Tawni admitted to feeling the same way. Their relationship was picture perfect.
But Tawni never really had the chance to date anyone else. She came to Chad with the idea of taking a break. Although heart-broken, Chad agreed to date other people. That's when he started putting on the bad-boy façade, the mask he wore making more girls attracted to him. It seemed as easy as blinking to him, reaching out into the world of being single.
Tawni realized it was harder than it looked, though. She couldn't just snap and a guy would appear next to her. It took more than that. She was on a low-ratings comedy show; guys wanted the fake, platinum blondes who were models or on a soap opera. Tawni didn't get it, she was pretty. Everyone thought so. But it seemed like pretty didn't catch anyone's attention anymore.
And Tawni realized that she missed Chad. It didn't seem like it before, but she realized that Chad was her comfortable old pair of jeans. He was her safe harbor, the place that she could trust. He was the shoulder she cried on for all those years, the person she went to talk to when she was upset or hurt or just needed a friend. Chad was the one person she could trust in the world.
So, she went back. She expected it to go back to normal. Until she saw the fake-blonde under his arm, popping her gum annoyingly, and twirling her hair around her finger. And Chad- he didn't even do as much as glance at his ex. He simply ignored the fact the she even existed, that they hadn't gone out for eight years. It didn't matter to him.
Tawni had cried for endless nights over her broken heart. But it's not like she would ever tell anybody that. Instead, she detached herself from the world, and even emotions. She acted like she didn't care, and that she was the only that mattered. She was pretty and that was all that mattered.
But, on the inside, every time Tawni saw Chad with another girl, and now Sonny, it killed her. Just when she thought she was over it, he broke her heart all over again. Every time Chad and Sonny kissed or touched, Tawni's heart broke a little more. And it will keep doing that till it's fallen apart completely, leaving Tawni with nothing but that pretty face. And she'll act like that's all that matters.
