CHAPTER 1
Sesshomaru moved silently through the forest towards his castle, Rin close behind him. He stopped suddenly, eyes narrowed, and nostrils flaring at a dangerous scent- another inu-youkai.
"Rin stay here," as ordered and moved to investigate it further. "Yes my Lord," Rin answered. He followed the scent until he was standing at the strongest point. He could smell youkai blood and instinctively examined the ground and trees for signs of a struggle and remains of bodies.
Finding a lump of something that carried the inu-youkai scent he prodded it with his boot. It groaned- still alive. Sesshomaru considered the lump for a few seconds and then called for Rin as he stepped over the body.
"I'm coming Lord, I'm coming" she answered running quickly after him, knowing he didn't like it when she lagged behind. In her hurried state, her feet caught the bulge Sesshomaru had stepped over.
"Oww," Rin yelped her face hit the ground. At the sound of her fall, Sesshomaru paused and a slight smile played at this cold features. Immediately picking herself up, Rin inspected the what had tripped her.
"Lord Sesshomaru, look- it's still alive!" she said with wide brown eyes and wiped debris hurriedly away from the body.
"Yes Rin, I know, let's go," he said patiently and continued to walk. Of course, Rin knew it was another youkai, and couldn't help but feel sorry for the dying demon.
"Lord, why are we leaving it to die?"
"Rin, it is none of our concern, let's go," he repeated.
"But Lord Sesshomaru, you can heal her, right?" Rin ignoring his commands. Sesshomaru rounded on her in annoyance, planning to drag her away, but stopped at the pleading look in her large brown eyes.
"Please Lord Sesshomaru, she's dying," Rin said again quietly as she folded hands and hung her head, her dark messy hair falling over her face. His eyes flickered in consideration, and his lips pulled tight in annoyance. Sighing in resignation, he could never say no to her. He lifted the dying youkai and started again towards their home.
"Oh thank you Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin squealed happily as she ran around him, almost tripping him.
"RIN," he barked, "enough." She responded obediently and quieted, falling into step behind him, "Ok," she hummed.
