A/N: The warriors' relationship could be so complex- unfortunately I am not that talented. Alas, I still try.
Clay throws a pair of dice; two fives. He moves through the ladder, one, two, three...ten. It lands on an empty spot. He neither climbs nor falls.
The game is too childish, they realize. But they don't have any other choice- unless they wanted to resort to 'spin the bottle' which they had long understood it as a mistake, and a mistake only.
"Ladders and chutes" did not try to force you to come face to face with your feelings.
Like his for Kimiko. Like Omi's for Rai.
It's Rai's turn again. A six and an one. Lucky. He moves through the spaces- he's about to win the game.
Omi tosses the dice. Four and four. He beams, because he beats Rai, if only for one simple space. Their relationship is that of greater, and greatest, and Clay doubts they want to change it. When Kimiko throws the dice and they stop spinning, she lands a space away from the "Finish" slot.
She's proud, and she doubts anyone will win, but they're not really playing for the game.
Kimiko knows, and so do the boys, and Clay thinks it's unfair of her. He questions it not.
It's his turn again; Clay throws the pair of dice: snake eyes.
One, two, he neither climbs nor falls. He loses the game.
A/N: I have no idea if the game actually lends itself to work that way. Critique-review yes?
