It's from Arthur's POV, though it's not exactly British sounding...just, um. Read it in a British accent?
Something had been bugging me all day.
I never (well, I can't say 'never' since I've done it multiple times before now, but that's beside the point) thought about telling America some of his state's names were strange. I mean, what on Earth was he thinking with Utah? That doesn't even make sense!
Well, either way, it had never occurred to me (until today that is) what could possibly happen. I mean, I've met all of Canada's provinces (Quebec being my least favorite – the man is French), but I haven't met every single one of Americas states. The original thirteen, of course, and Alaska, Texas, and California; I've even visited Hawaii once (that was an incredibly refreshing time. Now that I think about it, I should go back someday soon…)
I never thought that some of his states could become unhappy. I mean not that they are (unhappy, I mean), but the possibility is there. What would he say if one or two or, God Forbid, ten of them suddenly decided to become their own country? I mean, who can't recall little Andorra; the small nation between Spain and France? He just kind of decided to be and wallah. There he was. What would America do if some of his state's just up and stopped being part of the United States of America?
Not that I'm rooting for it to happen, of course! That would be a terrible thing to wish for. (Aside from the fact that it would teach the wanker a well deserved lesson on respecting those who take care of you…) I mean, I know how it feels to have part of you, a part that you've spent a lot of time and energy and feeling into raising and nurturing, ripped out of your chest. It's like a permanent heart break. A wound that will never close.
But, I digress. (It's not like I'm sensitive about that kind of stuff. That's crazy talk.) Personally, I'd like to see Montana and Idaho join up and leave. (God Forbid it ever happen, of course)
But only because the possibility of the country being named 'Idmontaho' is there.
Umm. Yeah. That actual epiphany happened to me one day.
You know how people are all like, 'I get my best ideas in the shower'?
Yeah. I get Idmontaho.
Which, although highly amusing, isn't quite what I was hoping for.
So, yeah. Just a stupid one-shot. Yupp.
