A Nightmare
"Remy?" The pitiful voice woke Remus from his… ehm…. interesting dream. Just as he was about to fall back to sleep it came again. "Remy?"
"Yes, Sirius?" Remus's voice sounded tired as if he had put up with this for a while. And, in truth, he had. Sirius had woken him up at least seventeen times in the last hour to ask some stupid question or another. What he heard this time surprised Remus at how different it was.
"I had a nightmare." Sirius's voice was small and uncertain in the large Hogwarts dorm room. Really,it was strange to hear this from Sirius at all, because either he never had nightmares or he never told anyone.
This was a once in a lifetime thing, and Remus was incredibly surprised that Sirius had woken him up. Yet, he pulled himself from his pondering to ask quietly, "What was it about, Siri?"
"You…. you were…. being chased…" Remus jumped as Sirius slid into bed beside him. He knew from the halting way Sirius was talking that it had been particularly bad, so he pulled Sirius to him in a hug to try and help him continue. "It was these… giant… marshmallows. They were purple, too! They were… chasing you… because you are…. a werewolf."
Before Remus could frown Sirius continued as if anxious to get it all out. "I tried to tell them that you were a good werewolf, but they didn't listen! They didn't care, good or bad. They wanted you to… to… to EAT you!" Sirius sobbed into Remus's shirt and Remus stroked his back while Sirius regained his composure. "And… I… I never…" Sirius sniffled and wiped his nose on the sleeve of his pajamas. "Never got to…. to tell you… that… that…" But Sirius either couldn't or wouldn't continue.
"Tell me what, Siri?" Remus was curious. He HAD to know what Sirius was talking about.
At Remus's gentle prodding Sirius looked up and stared at Remus like it was obvious. "Never got to tell you that I love you." Sirius whispered softly.
Remus's eyes grew wide before he hugged Sirius closer, cuddling against him and kissing his nose. "Well now I think I need to tell you something too."
Sirius looked at him hopefully knowing what was coming. "I love you, too, Sirius."
