Memories

Alone. Those were my earliest memories. I was all alone. No one liked me, they say I'm a freak of nature. They poke my wings and pull at my tail. My only friend was my twin. She defends me and plays with me. I felt different, like I was meant for something else. Mother always says I'm special, but I just felt unimportant. My father was always busy, he was almost always not home.

Before he got this busy, I… I remember that he would often be home with another mech. Often times he and the mech would be talking and laughing together and calling each other… brother. During those times, my sister and I would often stay with them when mother is busy. My sister would sit in father's lap and chatter away at me. I would just curl up against the mech and… just listen.

That was life before the… argument. Before the dispute. Before the abrupt disappearance of… Uncle Optimus…

It all started when they left for an 'important' errand. They left leaving me and sister behind with mother. It was a cloudy day, threatening acid rain. We stayed indoors, waiting for their return. It was silent except for the sound of mother cooking.

Soon there was the sound of someone knocking on the door. My twin and I rushed over to open the door. When the door opened, Optimus was not there, only father. There was no one else.

"Where's uncle?" I asked.

"He's… busy, Bluedragon," father replied.

"Will he have time to visit us?" my twin asked.

"Maybe, Bladedancer," father said.

There was something off with father's reply. I felt like he didn't want uncle Optimus to come. Which was strange, considering how close they were. They were practically inseparable, just like my twin and I. I was about to ask some more questions when mother came to the living room.

"Megatron, where's Orian?" she asked.

"Can we talk about him later, Amethyst?" father asked.

Mother glanced at Bladednacer and I, then she nodded at father. I knew something was off. I decided to investigate.

"Is there something wrong?" I asked.

"No, Bluedragon, why don't you two go eat. Father and I will join you shortly," mother said.

"Ok mom!" Bladedancer chirped.

Before I could say anything, my sister dragged me to the kitchen.

Then… things only got worse…

One month after father came home without uncle Optimus… the war started. At first it was mild skirmishes, minor injuries. Then it expanded into explosions and deaths. Forcing my family and I to move to somewhere else. There was nowhere safe… everywhere there was a war. No one was safe, and there is no such thing as sanctuary. That's when father started to be rarely home. Sometimes, he would be gone for days. Mother worries about him a lot.

Bladedancer and I learned about the war by complete accident. We were playing outside in a meadow when a mech approached us. We didn't notice him at first, we were just running around. That was until the mech tried to grab me. He almost got me, but father was nearby.

Seeing what was happing, he roared and charged at the mech. Knocking him away from me.

"Don't you dare touch her!" he roared.

The mech ignored his warning and lounged at me, only to find himself skewered by father's sword. I watched as the life slowly drained out of him. I trembled in fear and looked up at father. Only to see his eyes filled with hatred instead of regret.

"F-father?" I asked.

Father just let the body slide onto the ground, sheathed his sword, and picked me up along with Bladedancer. We shared a twin glance, life as we know it will never be the same again. Seeing what our father did, made us fear what mother and father have been hiding from us.

Just a year after that… mother was killed.

7 years later, our home planet was destroyed. Forcing all its inhabitants to scatter into the galaxy like dust scattered to the wind…

War is at our doorsteps, and we must fight back...
