Drabbles – Friend – 100 Words
Alexander always said we were friends.
Friends don't do what he did to me last night.
Hephaestion knew he had gone a little deeper in his wine than he had for a long time but the night had been hot and muggy and the wine tasted exceptionally good.
A true friend would not have taken advantage of that.
Sometime during the evening it had appeared again. That dreaded stool! The one he should have burned a long time ago.
Laughter had filled the hall and teasing was at an all time high.
A true friend would not have joined in the fun the others were having at his expensive. A true friend would have thrown the stool, now called Mt. Stool, into the fire instead of joining in the retelling of it's christening.
Hephaestion had been more than a little drunk the first time but he certainly didn't remember a lot of the details that had been added since.
How could one little stool be the cause of such glee and humiliation, all at the same time?
A really true friend will not mind the retaliation that is headed his direction sometime in the future.
Hephaestion finally let himself smile.
